Astrid's POV
Okay so, I've been to millions of schools. Mostly because my mom is an archaeologist but finally she got a new job, an illustrator for books about what she found. So why should this school be any different? I'm going to Huntington High no one knows me and it's the middle of the year great. I quickly change into a black skater skirt and black and white shirt. "You ready for school!!" Exclaimed my mom. "Yeah, sure hold on let me brush my hair." I said. I quickly grabbed a brush and pulled at my messy red hair. I slugged down the stairs reluctant to go to school.
"What's wrong honeybuns?" She said with puppy-dog eyes laughing.

"Nothing it's just that, well I'm going to a new school. In the middle of the year..." I muttered.
"Well tough luck. I promised my work I couldn't move till you graduated." She said proudly.
"Thanks for the love." I said sarcastically. As I stroll down to my new school I immediately noticed all the cliques out front of the school. The hippies, laying on each other laughing. The nerds, totally ignoring each other by reading and occasionally gasping or sighing at a part in their book. The skaters, sliding down rails and apparently have no sense of style. Jocks, flexing their muscles and whistling at other girls walking past. The thespians, doing improvs with each other. Ah, and finally the basic bitches, doing makeup and secretly judging others. I can already see the queen of the school. She's above all the others. Would I fit in with any of those cliques?
"Do you have everything you need? Pencils, pens, erasers, highlighters, oh! Do you have your lunch?" My mom breaks my train of thought.
"What? Oh, yes, yes, yes, and yes, and I'm buying lunch."
"Okay. Bye Astrid! I love you!" I turn red. Oh my gosh I think the entire frickin school heard that. As I make my way up to the office trying to avoid all the horny boys and popular girls, something, no someone catches my eyes. Wow they are...
"Hi!! My names Patty! Omg you must be new. Oh I love new students, and school, don't you?!" Patty said jumpy. Her blonde curls bouncing around her.
"Ya biggest the thrill of my life." I say sarcastically.
"Where do you need to go? Let me see your schedule! Do you have it yet? Oh! Do you need to go to the office I..."
"I'll take over here Patty." I hear a voice behind me. I turn around and see a shorter girl. Around my age though. She has her messy brown hair pulled into a bun on the back of her hair with a few strands sticking out. Her electric blue eyes are fierce yet warming.
"You sure Cassandra?" Patty questioned.
"It's just Cas okay, anyway yeah, you can leave." Cas reassures Patty.
"Wow thanks." I say to my mystery hero. "Patty was, uh.."
"Is the word your looking for annoying? Way to peppy? Or even psychotic?" She suggested back with a laugh.
"Yeah that's about right." I added. Well I made a friend. Thank God!
Me and Cas make our way to Algebra she shows me all the popular and who not to mess with and who could be possible future friends.
"Look, Mr. Harold will like you if all you do is shut up and do your work." Cas whispers to me.
"Good to know." I mutter. As i enter class I feel eyes glued to my back as I make my way down the row to the back next to Cas. I take my seat and slide down in my seat hoping no one notices me.
"Okay class, everyone turn to page 153. We'll be working on roots of radical numbers. Do problems one through 30. It's due tomorrow." Perfect. I open the page and read what looks like a foreign language.                                 "Need help." I nearly jump out of my seat at Cas's words. "Oh yeah. This is... different." Over the next hour Cas helps me with roots. Still don't get it. The bell rings and I'm eager to leave this hell.
