A/N: So... Hi. I'm so sorry it took me so long to update. I will try to be better at it as we bring this story to a close. That's right folks, the story is almost over. Just a few more chapters, and the happy ending. Thank you all so much for your patience and support. :3

We left the closet that morning hands intertwined, and went straight to the Matthews' apartment, even though it was only 9 am. Luckily, Mrs. Matthews was working from home that day, and she let us in with a concerned look on her face. I held Farkle's hand as we sat on the sofa and I told her the story from the very beginning.

Back when I was 12, when he came into my life.

When he started abusing my mother, and then me.

When I started cutting.

Every event that had led up to this day was laid out in the open as I told the story. I rolled up my sleeves as far as they would go and Mrs. Matthews' eyes widened at the sight of my criss-crossing scars. Farkle's grasp tightened as I ran fingers over the words I had carved into my skin. Mrs. Matthews held a hand up to her mouth in shock, a tear escaping her eyes I relayed the day's events. She pulled me into a tight hug as she told me that she was never going to let him hurt me again. Once we pulled apart, Farkle put his arm back around my shoulders. He rubbed circles into my back as Mrs. Matthews dialed the police. We sat on the couch listening as she relayed my information, my story, and then my address to the officer. After a couple of minutes, she hung up the phone and made her way back over and sat down on the other side of me.

"Maya, they're sending officers to your apartment right now. I didn't know if you're mother would be there, but I told them she wasn't the threat, so she'll be alright." She pulled my head against her shoulder as she hugged me. "Oh sweetie... I had no idea."

The three of us sat in silence for a few moments, Farkle holding my hand and rubbing my back and Mrs. Matthews stroking my hair as a tear escaped her eye. She wiped it away and stood gently saying, "I'll just go call the school."

I tensed up, starting to panic at the prospect of this spreading any further. My breathing got scattered and my chest started to seize. I squeezed my eyes shut and Farkle dropped my hand as he stood to speak to Mrs. Matthews.

"I don't know if she's comfortable with anyone else knowing right now," he said before turning back to me, and I nod gratefully.

She nods in understanding and promises to give the school a fool-proof excuse. Farkle holds my hand as we sit on the couch. He presses a kiss into the back of my head as I turn to check the time. 12:15. We've been here for 2 hours. At school, lunch has just started. My thoughts fly immediately to Lucas and Riley. We- I - left them at school, completely out of the loop. I feel awful for not telling my best friend and for neglecting her. New tears start to roll down my cheeks as the dread of having to face her consumes me. Farkle turns my head towards him, wiping away the tears with his thumb. I hear him asking me what's wrong, but it doesn't register. All I can think about is how betrayed Riley will feel. That I told Farkle, but kept it from her. That dark thought sits heavy in my stomach, weighing me down. My breathing starts to become uneven and suddenly I'm having a panic attack. I stand to run away, tears streaking down my face. I don't know where to, just away from this feeling. I hear Mrs. Matthews and Farkle calling after me, but I don't look back. The tears in my eyes blur my vision, and I trip. I fall to the floor and hit my head, and suddenly everything fades to black. The last thing I hear is Farkle's painful, horrible cry. "MAYA!"

A/N: Another apology: sorry about that cliff-hanger. The next chapter will be up soon though, and Riley will find out Maya's secrets. Thanks again for reviewing/commenting
