All We Know Is Falling.

Prologue.

Spiritess Aleka  and Spiritess Falona were restless and uncomfortable, but their brother SpiritSumen was infuriated at the betrayal.

Spriritess Aleka spoke softly to her two remaining siblings, “This has been tragic, Spirit Sumen, but right now it is more important to rebuild the civilisation, not to seek vengeance.”

“They cannot ever return, brother, now calm,” Spiritess Falona whispered into her brother’s ear.

“You are wrong, though, sister! However well hidden they are, we will capture them and make them pay. I will avenge the fall of our people, our race,” Spirit Sumen stared into her milky white eyes, “And you will never stop me,” with that, he wiped the soul from Spiritess Falona’s body, and the life from her eyes.

Seventeen Years Later.

Ashensea, CornwallEngland.

Eryn Anna Rivers was trying to run down a corridor in St Albert’s Hospital, but it was thriving with doctors and nurses, busy and frantic. Unfortunately, she knew exactly why. Her heart was pumping blood right into her ears, and her cheeks were wet as she dodged past a crowd of surgeons.

“Excuse me,” Eryn tapped a pretty Asian nurse on the back, “Could…could you please tell me where I could find Brydan Wallace? Or Tessa Wallace?”  The nurse’s eyes widened, “Are you a relative? Only relatives.”

“What…” Eryn shook herself awake, “Yes. Yes, I’m his cousin,” she lied. The nurse slowly nodded, “Waiting Room 5c. Floor above, third door on the right.”

“Thanks,” she muttered and took off in that direction. She  rushed up the stairs three or four at a time, her hair a mess, and frantically searched for the words Room 5c.  She pushed the white door of the waiting room open and saw her boyfriend, Luke Everson, sitting bolt upright, his eyes red andunstaring. Her best friend since nursery, Kristina Royce, engulfed her, while sobbing, tears seeping from her eyes.

“Eryn…Eryn,” she said.

“What, is he..?” She said, her hand over her mouth, the lump in her throat feeling like the size of a fist.

“No,” Luke said flatly, and looked at Eryn, “They haven’t said anything to us. Are you his cousin too?”

She smiled, “Yes. So we wait?”

“That’s all we can do, apparently,” he said, and she sat down next to him. He kissed her cheek, "Damn this doesn't feel real."

After two hours, they weren't crying any more, the feeling had sunk in and left them with a numb, empty, waiting feeling. At eleven, Tessa Wallace came into the room,

"Go home," she said, frowning at them, "Why're you here?" She looked at Eryn in disgust. This didn'tsuprise her, Tessa had never been fond of Eryn and often threw her dirty looks and uncalled for remarks.

"We're waiting," Kristina said, her voice raspy, "And we're not going home." Tessa frowned again, but more at herself. Luke looked at her,

"So? What's happened? Is there any news?"

Tessa looked right through him.

"About what?" She said, her voice tinging, Eryn thought, almost with anger. Her usual voice was incredibly distinctive, it had a casual Londoner accent to it but with a hint of softness.

"Brydan, of course! Your brother!" Eryn cried quietly, "Is he alright?"

She smiled to herself, "I don't know either," she said softly, and left.

"God that stupid-" Luke spat.

"You can't blame her, Luke," Eryn said, "Tessa was the one who crashed it. And got out unscathed. Do you think we should go home? It is his sister. We aren't his family."

Kristina smiled, "According to the nurses we are."

A sudden scream, that could've been from anywhere along the corridor, echoed throughout the building. It wasn't just one, either, it was more of a screaming FIT. One followed by another, some were short and some were elongated. All were pain filled. Tessa Wallace was screaming.

"Yeah, let's go," Luke said, getting up and taking Eryn's hand. Kristina shrugged on her coat and they walked out of the hospital. Even on the ground floor the screaming could be heard. No other sound could be heard, just pure pain. They walked briskly down the large entrance hall, before Kristina stopped dead in her tracks, swivveling straight around.

"Krissy?" Eryn said, after a long moment.

"There's something over there..."Kristina pointed to the end of the hallway. Being midnight, the lights were dimmed so where she was pointing to was just blackness. The screaming continued. The air was dead and clogged with fear.

"Krissy?" Eryn repeated, walking over, to her best friend, who was now crying, silently, and as still as a statue. Kristina did not reply.

"Luke," Eryn said, "Go check it out. I'll stay with her." Luke nodded and walked down in the direction Kristina had pointed, using his phone screen as a torch.

"I'm sorry, Eryn," Kristina whispered, "I'm really, really, really sorry."

"What?" Eryn laughed, trying to lighten the mood, "Why? You haven't done anything."

Kristina turned her head incredibly slowly, her eyes were over flowing with tears.

"Go with him," she whispered, "And I'm sorry. I truly am." Eryn frowned at her, "No, I'm staying with you, Krissy. And stop saying that. What've you done?" Kristina closed her eyes, her lip trembling.

"I'm sorry for everything. Everything I've done and ever will do," she opened her eyes and said more strongly, "Now go."

"No," Eryn said stubbornly.

"GO! ERYN STOP BEING SO STUPID YOU HAVE TO GO WITH HIM!" she yelled. She couldn't see where she was running to. She couldn't see her feet as she ran into the darkness. She couldn't see anything but silvery mist. Only small wisps, everywhere she looked. Eryn wasn't standing on solid ground anymore, she couldn't feel her body, she couldn't feel her breath or her beating heart.

When Eryn and Luke returned, Kristina was gone.
