I was panting hard as I ran through the thick forest, branches from low hanging trees were tearing into me as I ran. I could hear the growls and snarls as I ran as fast as I could, jumping over rocks and fallen trees, looking for any light to indicate the exit in this dark forest. The pounding of their paws was growing louder I could have swore they were directly behind me but no way was I stopping to find out. I leaped over a fallen tree and franticly looked around and saw it, an exit, a gap in the trees that let light stream in. I took off running in the direction of the light each step I could feel myself breathe a little easier, I was almost safe.
I threw myself through the gap in the trees and bust into a large meadow that stretched for miles, tiny blue flower scattered the ground like raindrop. My chest tightened this isn't what I hoped for, I hoped this meadow would be a busy road or a small town instead of a meadow surrounded butt more trees. I ran till I reached the middle of the meadow and spun around in a circle. My eyes didn't spot a speck of human existence here. I only saw the meadow, the dark forest surrounding it and off in the distance tall mountains with their peaks covered in snow. My heart throbbed and my lungs burned along with every other muscle in my body, I was exhausted my legs will collapse if I take another step. There snarls echoed around the meadow as I stared at the trees I had just burst out of. I couldn't see the individual wolves but I could hear them snarling and growling at each other, I could see their yellow eyes staring back at me taunting me...challenging me to run.
It was hopeless though there was more of them then me, they could out run me and if I climbed a tree they could live longer then me waiting for me to come down. A silent tear slipped down my face as I faced the obvious... I Reagan George am going to die at the hands of beasts.
I dropped to my knees and hung my head in defeat, the blue flowers swayed gently in the wind and the whole meadow went silent as if the sound to the world had been put on mute. I waited a few minutes but nothing happened no violent tearing of limbs or crunching of skulls. I peeled my eyes away from the blue raindrop flowers back to the tree line where the wolves were hiding. My eyes widened and my breathe escaped my lungs, my eyes were blurred with tears but I could see this beast perfectly well. Its jet black fur matched the dark tree line, if I had only caught a glimpse of it I would have sworn it was a bear, heck it was big enough to be a grizzly but it was leaner and looked deadlier. Its eyes were a golden yellow that reflected off the sun, two large fangs were sticking out from the bottom of its muzzle like a saber tooth tiger would have done. This wolf was a killing machine one bite and he could tear me to bits no doubt about it but he stood staring at me, not moving but waiting for me to make the next move.
"please just kill me already" I whispered weakly. The beast cocked his head to the side like he understood my words.
"HURRY UP !" I screeched at the wolf , it took a step back from me "KILL ME, GO ON!" I screamed at it pleading it to put me out of my misery. The growls and snarls erupted from the trees behind the beast and he snarled back in return silencing them. I waited again as more tears trailed down my checks and splashed onto my light denim jeans. I waited for the animals to kill me but they didn't instead the large black wolf with the golden eyes slinked back in to the trees disappearing from my sight. I watched for minutes after minutes wondering if he was coming back for me but after a couple snarls and yelps I heard the thuds of steps fade back into the forest.
My breath came out shakily I hadn't realised I was even holding it for so long. I whimpered and sobbed to myself as I watched the spot where the wolves disappeared, I was actually alive and breathing.... And I was lost out in the woods alone, with no food or map.... Great.
The sun was disappearing behind the mountain peaks and i felt the chill of the night creeping in. I was run of my trail when the wolves started chasing me and I had run for hours taking different turns trying to lose the creatures. I had been in the jaws of death only to escape it then die of starvation when the time came.
"thank you world!" I screamed into the silent night "thank you for dragging my inevitable death out a little longer! Thank you so much!" my screams echoed around the meadow. I flopped onto my stomach and the soft grass of the meadow, I was alone , freezing, hungry and I'm going to die.
"Reagan George signing off folks" I whispered as i let my head rest on the grass and sleeps took over relaxing my sore muscles. I hope I make it till morning I prayed to myself before my mind went foggy and I fell fast asleep in the silent meadow surrounded but ting blue rain drop flowers.
