3 weeks later I ran to the grocery store for some eggs. Sure it seems simple, but it isn't. For starters, on the way over I tripped. Over my own feet. Then I collided with 17 people (I counted) and tripped 4 people. And finally I was there. The store. The store where Antonio worked. I looked around for a bit before going to the counter. There he was. A hunk of beauty and a blessing from God.
"Um excuse me sir?"
"Yes?" His voice was music, humming in my ears. Full with grace and joy and love and.... beauty. It was like eating chocolate. The kind that melts in your mouth and warms you up inside.
"Where are the eggs?" The truth is, I knew where the eggs were but when he points you can see all the muscles in his arms.
"That way." He said pointing. My body melted and I giggled.
"Thanks." I trotted over to the egg isle and grabbed two cartons. Then I returned to the counter, not wanting to miss a second of seeing Antonio. It's not very often that I get to go to the store alone. Mostly because I'm a klutz and can't hold a feather without breaking it. Even bulletproof glass has a breaking point.
"Can you add that to my tab?"
"Sure."
I tried to keep the conversation going."Let's hope these ones don't break too." I laughed.
"What do you mean?" His eyebrows knit together.
"I can't walk in a straight line," I explained "or hold anything without breaking dropping and breaking it. Don't let me drive a car. Or any vehicle for that matter... the list goes on and on."
"Maybe I could personally deliver these to you then." He said picking up the eggs. "I have a break in five minutes" He added with a wink.
My heart raced. "Oh... uh... yea thanks" I wrote out the address on a scrap piece of paper and dashed out the door in a mad sprint. I reached my house three minutes later after knocking into 23 people. And then I stopped cold. Wait a moment. I shouldn't go home first! I gathered up my wits and made one last run to the only person who truly gets me. First stop, Chiara's.
