"You know if you never burned that letter, we probably could've found her by now!" April yelled. You'd think she'd be sleeping in on a Saturday but alas, at the crack of dawn here she was.

"April, chill out. I just followed orders okay?" I said calmly. Why she decided to flip out today is beyond me.

She groaned and briskly walked outside. Slamming the door behind her, April screamed something but I couldn't quite make it out. I put my ear to the door and listened to her daily rampage.

When she finally finished, April calmly walked back inside. She didn't look at me on her way to the couch.

"Apr-"

"Just shut up for once would you?"

I closed my mouth and sat on the floor. One point to April, none to me. I put my earbuds in and leaned against the wall. As my eyes slowly shut, my wonderfully annoying twin yanked out my earbuds.

I stood up and glared at her. She only smiled and looked at the window. Gesturing for me to follow, April walked ahead and opened our window. In walked a bird with, you guessed it, a note on it's little foot.

The small dove stood still as April and I worked to get the note off. When it finally came loose, the dove flew away.

"Medieval much?" I asked unrolling the piece of paper. April hit my arm and started reading the small note out loud.

Dear Jones Sisters,

It has come to our knowledge that digital communication is too dangerous. Although we have yet to meet in person, I need a favor. In the Chief's office lies an envelope, much like the one we first contacted with. This holds critical information for our rendezvous point.

Stay in touch,

E.

"E must be like, a spy name or something. How cool is that? Would I be C and you be A? This is so exciting." I gushed.

April's lips made a firm line and her eyebrow raised, something she does when she's deep in thought. She hadn't the chance to call me an idiot yet which was both good and bad news. Good news:I wasn't getting insulted for once, bad news: I wasn't getting insulted.

"I have a plan." she finally said after a few minutes of silence.

She retrieved her notebook and tore out a sheet of paper. Taking a pen she conveniently had placed on her ear, April began to scribble on the page. I let her have the silence to work thoroughly and efficiently. When we were in Elementary School, April always laid out the plans for pranks while I carried them out. This system made our pranking days the best times of our lives.

April jumped up and shoved me the paper. On it, there was a perfect drawing of the office each spot with a little detail.

"So we go there tonight," April explained. "Our curfew is at midnight so we should leave here around maybe 2:30. The guards' shift start at 10 so they won't be as on the lookout. We sneak out the front instead of the back, that's not something they'd expect. Then I'll-"

If I'm honest, I stopped listening. Blah blah blah. Sneak here, tip toe there. I think I have the idea.

When she finally finished, she made a beeline for the closet. April returned with black camo in both hands. "Where did you get that?" I wrinkled my nose.

"It's really not that bad Camilla." she rolled her eyes and sat down.

"That's the same thing you said about country music."

--

"Wake up!" I yelled.

April sat up and rubbed her eyes. It was two in the morning and she had fallen asleep... weak.

"Is it two yet?"

I nodded and gave her the beautiful outfit she picked out. I left the room to find a snack. One should never sneak around on an empty stomach. A few minutes later, there were two identical losers dressed in black camo from head to toe. Playing matchie matchie with my twin sister was not my ideal of a good time.

The time had arrived for our intricate plan that I already forgot about. Winging it got me through high school so maybe it'd work now.

April and I creeped out the front door and she went to check for any security guards. When the coast was clear, we put up our hoods and began the half mile run to the dormitory building next to the office. I was a terrible runner, if you don't believe me, I failed every single mile in school. My lungs were screaming for air while my heart lurched with each step. However, my incredibly athletic twin was way ahead of me. Honestly, we'd get caught; I felt like I was going to fall over and die.

After about five excruciating minutes, we made it to the dorm. I started towards the dorm, but April stopped me.

"Wait a minute. You're completely out of breath." she said. April reached into her pocket and pulled out a flask. "Drink." she ordered.

"Since when do you drink?" I asked with a smirk.

April rolled her eyes and took a sip. "Ever since you have, now drink. It'll help after the run and have you just a little more alert."

I took a drink and jumped up and down trying to get warm. California or not, it was cold outside.

April and I sprinted to the building and somersaulted up against the pale brick wall. We took a few moments to catch our breath and silently moved across the wall towards the door.

April pulled out a big bobby pin and picked the lock. Stereotypical yes, but it was effective.

Once the lock was picked, we creeped inside and looked around. Our eyes were already adjusted to the dark, so it was easy to move around. I stayed outside the Chief's door while April checked inside. I figured it'd be easier if I stood watch because I would ransack the office. April however, would carefully put everything back in it's place.

April returned, envelope in hand. She tucked it in her waistband and gave me a little nod. As soon as we were on our way I heard footsteps. I put my hand up which signaled for April to stop as well. We were hidden just behind a door and if the person looked back and saw us, we'd be screwed.

Now there were not only footsteps but a slight whistle as well. As they came closer, April and I pressed against the wall trying to get as small as possible.

"Well, well, well." A voice said, "What do we have here?"

Author's Note:
Hi sorry I'm late for this, it was supposed to be up about a week ago, January 16, but instead here it is now. The dates will fix themselves eventually. I might update again today just because. Also, this weekend there may not be an update because I'll be in Hawaii this weekend.

Have a good day,

Dy
