The alleyway was dark and grimy, and it was raining steadily droning out some of the city noise around me. I grimaced at my surroundings and kept trudging home. At this rate I won't get home 'til maybe 2am. With my hands deep in my pocket, I fiddled with my keys trying to keep my mind away from the bone chilling cold around me. I had a feeling. A bad feeling.
I looked behind me, being the paranoid person I am, to make sure no one was following me. Nothing. I gave a half convinced sigh and looked forward to keep walking. Maybe it's the environment? I was nearing a dumpster when I walked passed a group of drunks huddled in a circle. One of them eyed me so I hung my head low, hoping they wouldn't notice me, and I almost thought I succeeded. Almost.
"Hey, girly! Come ov'r here!" One of the shorter men slurred. I closed my eyes and started walking faster, fishing for my pepper spray in my pocket. "Aye, hun, don't ignore us!" One of the others barked. "We jus' wanna talk is all." I started mentally cursing myself when they started making their way towards me. Where's my goddamn pepper spray?!
They were only getting closer as I searched, so I broke into a sprint. Half blinded by the pelting rain, I quickly turned a corner and almost slipped but I kept running, fearing they'd catch up.
I finally found the little can while I ran and I yanked it out of my pocket, ready to spray in someone's eyes. I swung around to face one of the men but they caught me by my and smirked at my hand. I whimpered and cowered in his grip when he tore it out of my hand.
"P-Please, let me go." I tried tugging my hand out of his iron grip.
He gave me a toothy smile and pulled me closer to him. I retched at the smell of liquor in his breath. He lifted my chin up to face him, letting the rain drip onto my face and I let out a wail of a cry.
"Why don't we take this somewhere inside if y'er gonna be loud." He drawled out and started dragging me to a door that led to who knows where. I closed my eyes and pulled harder.
"Please just let me go! What do you want?!" I was near crying. How was I supposed to get out of this one?
"Do ya got any cash on you, hun," I shook my head no, and dreaded what was coming next, "Aye, guys, ain't this one got a pretty face?" He looked back to his friends, which they all nodded in agreement. He turned back to me and started opening the door. He pulled me close to him so that my body was against his. I let out a shaky breath and bit my lip to suppress a sob.
"It's okay babe. I'll make ya feel good." He purred into my ear, before laying sloppy kisses on my neck. I can't let this happen. I did the next best thing and kneed him between the legs. It turned out to be the dumbest move ever. The man grabbed a fistful of my hair and threw me against the dumpster near us.
"What in the hell was that for?" He hissed. I cowered down and started crying. I knew this would happen while I walked through here one day. I knew I would put myself in a dangerous situation. One of his friends brought his leg back to kick me and I hid my face ready.
"Well, what's going on here?" We all shot out attention behind the group to see a tall man wearing all black, with his face hidden behind a shadow. I mentally sighed in relief. Please be here to save me, please be my guardian angel. He walked towards the guys slowly with his hands in his pockets.
"None of y'er damn business!" One of the guys hollered. He tried standing up tall to seem tougher, but the mysterious man towered over him. My mysterious maybe-saviour tilted his head down, still hiding his eyes but showing a slight smirk painted across his face. He gave a small chuckle and shook his head and walked closer to the guy standing tall to him. He leaned in, now smiling wider.
Everything seemed to pause in time, everyone watching the two intently waiting to see what happened next.
My mystery guy immediately dropped his smile giving the man a cool expression, making chills run down my spine.
"Wrong answer." He whispered, but everyone heard it and it sent a cool shiver through everyone. He immediately punched the short drunk across the face, making him stumble back into his friends. But they all sprung up ready to fight, apparently amusing the mysterious guy. He slowly went down to a fighting position, as if he was bored, and cocked his head to the side. One of the taller guys ran up to him and tried throwing a punch to his face, but the mystery guy dodged his fist and swung a punch into his gut with crazy strength. The guy flew back several feet and laid unconscious. What the hell just happened? How did he manage to do that? He turned to the other two, questioning if they were next. "Wha-" One of the guys started, "What the fuck?! What are you?" He asked wide eyed. He looked towards his still conscious friend and signaled him to go with him and they both ran off. That whole scene must've sobered them up. I stared at the incident wide eyed and kept replaying the last few minutes in my head. I kept thinking so much I didn't notice the mystery guy walk up to me, holding out his hand. I looked at his hand and then to his face. It was still hard to make out his features, but he still had a slight smirk and he looked at me with bright blue eyes. I gingerly took his hand and helped myself up. I looked to the ground and shifted my feet in a small puddle.
"Um ... thank you. A lot." I looked up to see him genuinely smiling and he nodded to me. But I was still wondering how strong he had to be to make a man fly back that far.
"You're welcome, ma'am. What might your name be?" His voice was deep but friendly.
"Kellie, and yours?" I ask.
"Hm. I don't think I should tell you considering you won't remember this by tomorrow." He says darkly. My brows knit together and I look up at him confused. Then he cups my cheek with his hand and my breath hitches.
"Goodnight, Kellie Pierce."
And everything went black.
