Grey Loveliness

The evening light settled

on her skin like pollen.

A cloud of steam

billowed from her tea, the crisp

air inhaled her warmth

and swept it away.

The porch bravely

faced the sunset, slowly

progressing from salmon

to crimson.

She wanted to travel to that

bright oasis of fire.

She wished to burn in beauty

rather than go on in plainness.
