Sasha's POV

unedited

--------------------------------------

I ran as hard and fast as my legs would carry me. No matter how hard I tried she always caught up. This time I will make it out! I ran harder, pushing my limits to the max. I ran through the dark woods, only seeing the vast darkest, stretching out as far as the eye can see. Suddenly, I began to fall, as the ground began to open up and swallow me whole.

I dropped onto the ground, I felt around me, instead of the familiar forest floor, I felt the hard cement floor of our basement. "It's going to happen again! Please, don't let it happen again!" I prayed to the moon goddess. Her sing-song voice rang out in my prison. "Nobody can hear your pleas and screams. You'll be locked up in here forever." Miranda's sickening voice yelled, bouncing of the walls.

Suddenly a man came out of the shadows. With black hair and gold eyes. He would have been considered handsome if I didn't know what he was going to do. He slowly stalked towards me, "Lie down", his big voice boomed. "Please, no", I thought to myself.

When he reached me, he began to pull a hand back, as if to hit me. As soon as his hand went up , it came down just as fast and connected with my face.

I jolted upright in a matter of seconds, looking for my attacker. He was nowhere to be found. I got out of bed to get dressed when a knock sounded at my door. I mumbled a come in, granting whoever it was passage to my room. Jamie walked in with a silent hello, asking me if I had time to talk. Well, I do have to get down to the pack house to talk to Alpha Elliot and look at the Rogue pair's request, but I don't know what Jamie wants. "Sure, but can we make it fast? I have to do some pack things." She nodded and gave a small smile.

"Well, as you well know we are investigating your father's murder, and well, after last night's incident we have decided to withhold any further information from you." she said with a grimace, speeding up the last part of her sentence. "What?! Why?!" I demand. Her face paled and she looked to the door, half expecting to see Miranda walk through the doorway. "Oh. It's because of her, isn't it?" I can understand. I completely lost it last night, I nearly killed Miranda. Although she does deserve to die; however, an even better punishment would be to let her live and have to live out the rest of her life without her mate. Call me cruel, but she deserves to suffer and it's only fair that she has to live without him, she killed my dad for pete's-sake!

"It's understandable. Thank you for your help." I narrated. Leading her to the door, I gave her a frail, broken smile. She replied with a short but sweet hug, and a chaste kiss on my forehead. I hugged her back, trying not to cry. She was like a mother to me. She has always been kind to me, she watched me as a small child and she tended to my every need; while Miranda, my biological mother did nothing for me.

After Jamie left I went downstairs for some breakfast, finding Miranda sitting on a bar stool. I'll just eat at the pack house. I walked out of the room and through the door, only stopping to grab my house key and backpack. I walked onto the freshly mowed grass, inhaling the fresh, crisp air. I loved being outside. It was my comfort zone. My special place where I can forget everything and just run free.

Arriving at the pack house, I headed up to the office, finding William and Alpha Elliot sitting in the chairs having casual chit-chat. After a couple of minutes I cleared my throat, stifling laughter when William jumped. Elliot stood and slightly bowed in acknowledgement and William bowed his head in respect. Bowing back at Elliot I held captive by the forest green orbs. "Alpha, Alpha Elliot has come to talk about joining our packs together," Williams voice broke the comforting silence.
