If I Could Fly by One Direction
-
My shaking hand manages to knock softly on the juniper wooden door in front me, as I feel a mixture of nauseousness and anxiety in the pit of my stomach.
I look like a mess, I know I do. I can feel my heart beating rapidly against my chest, as the warm tears flood onto my cheeks and drip off my chin. My whole body is shaking from the feeling of pain and aching that I can't seem to describe or put into words.
The door swiftly opens, revealing one of the many people I confide in the most. She is wearing an oversized t-shirt with dark grey sweatpants. Her jet black hair is secured into a lazy bun, with small loose strands framing her face.
"Cora!" She exclaims, her eyes widening at the sight of me.
I open my mouth to say something - anything, really - but all that comes out are deep, loud sobs that tear through my chest and convulse my small body. I walk forward, collapsing into her arms as she instantly rubs my back to try to get me to calm down.
"Janine, I did it," I struggle to say in between breaths.
"Did what, Cora?" She asks. I can tell her voice is filled with nervousness, "What did you do?"
"I left him, Janine," I stand up to look at her, bringing my hands up to wipe away the tears that are continuously falling, "I left Harry."
She lets out a deep sigh as she pulls me into her apartment and closes the door behind us. She guides me to the living room, pulling me down to sit beside her on the couch.
"Talk to me, Cora." Janine says, her hand finding its way to my back once again as she continues to soothe me.
"He's not the same anymore," My voice cracks and I bury my face in my hands, "He's not the same as when I first met him."
There is not much to say, really. There are not enough words to explain how much my body aches and how much I wish things between Harry and I could return to how they were the first few months we were together. Everything was perfect until he made the mistake of pushing away his parents and his younger sister. He clouded the thoughts in his mind with depression and sorrow, claiming I was all he had left. But just like his family, he pushed me away too.
Harry was like a metaphor to me. He resembled an ocean wave - beautiful and utterly hard to resist. But the moment you came running towards him, he would pull away.
"Listen, Cora," Janine's hand rests at my shoulder, causing me to look up and turn towards her, "You and I both know my brother, and only God knows how much he keeps to himself."
I sniffle and slowly nod my head as she continues, "You two love each other, more than words can describe. Whatever happened between you two, I know you guys can get through it.
