Southampton, New York, United States Of America
March 23,2018

My parents weren't very happy when I told them I were going to America to find out if a girl is dead or alive. They thought I were crazy to go after to see if she kicked the bucket or not even thought she clearly states shes probably  to be dead. I most likely were crazy to go after her when I knew she probably was. I just needed a confirmation.

The plane ride to America was my first flight over seas and alone. Yes, It were one of the scariest experiences of my life, but after a couple hours I felt better. The girl beside me was asleep for almost the whole time. I thought she were going into hibernation on the flight. That is until she woke up on the last hour.

But now here I am. In the big apple with a suitcase and winging it.

I so far searched 3 cemeteries and none of them knew or buried a girl named Devera Smifez. I am at the last one that I am going to look at for the night. Southampton's Graves. I probably should have went to this grave yard first, now that I think about it. Since it is the one that is closest to where she lives according to her letter.

I walked to the boy behind the front desk. He had brown hair and pale blue eyes. I thought that was a cool combination to be honest.

I patiently waited for the boy to notice me but he never did. Well that was until I coughed to try to get his attention. And it worked so I smiled with satisfaction.

A girl walked in the door after the boy noticed. She looked to be about 18, give or take a year or two. She had dark brown hair and exotic green eyes. She had a small nose and lips. She looked to be around 5'7 and weighed no more than a hundred and ten pounds. She looked like a goddess from heaven.

I turned back around to the boy behind the desk who had his full attention on me now.

"How may I help you?" The boy said with a tired tone.

"Do you have a girl named Devera Smifez buried here?" I asked politely.

The girl behind me gave out a gasp which confused me a lot. I just ignored it though.

"Yea, we actually do have her buried here. Such a shame she died. She is grave number 3539," The boy said looking on his computer.

"Ok, thank you a lot," I said as my answer was now known.

She actually did die. I should've known.  I were stupid to go on this trip and think maybe she actually was alive.

As I left the front building, the girl behind me said something.

"Hey! Wait up!" Her voice sounded like heaven too. It wasn't just her voice.

I turned around,"Yes, ma'dam?"

"Devera Smifez was my cousin, how do you know her- I'm sorry knew her?"

So the angel standing in front of me was the girl I finally found out whose dead's cousin. My luck was just amazing at this moment. She could give me all the answers I needed.

"She wrote a message in a bottle and I got it. Maybe you have noticed my french accent? I came all the way from France to find out if she were still alive or not. How did she kill herself?" I asked her.

"Thats crazy," She looked shocked then continued,"Can I see the note if you brought it and she hung herself," The girl said sadly.

I replied an 'Oh' and dug the note out of my pocket. I took good care of the note like she asked to and made sure to be careful with it. I gently passed it to the nameless girl.

"What's your name?" I asked after she finished reading it and passed it back. She looked like she had tears in her eyes but quickly wiped them away.

"Jinx, what's yours?"

"Matthew."

"Cool. Uh- Matthew, would you want to go eat lunch with me by any chance?"

That took me by surprise. My face probably looked like that too because she laughed at it. Her laugh sounded like music to my ears. It was so beautiful.

"Sure, but I have to do something really quick," I told Jinx before I ran to Devera's grave.

I got the same glass wine bottle out of my suitcase and took out a piece of paper and pencil.

Dear Devera,

I know it's too late now and you will never read this, but I got your message in a bottle. My name is Matthew and I'm from France. I came all this way to put this by your grave if you died. I just wanted confirmation that you did die. And I will try to take and keep your advice. I never met you but you seemed like a nice person. Rest In Peace Devera.

I rolled up the note and put it in the bottle. I carefully dug a small hole to put half of the bottle in. I smiled as I walked away from Devera's grave.

"You ready?" Jinx said with a sad smile.

"Let's go"
