Blondie Chapter Sixteen
The next morning I had really important tests to study for. I locked myself in my room with some food and water. I spent the first hour looking over my English papers. I studied vocabulary. I studied things I probably wouldn't need to know.
When I finished most of my studying it was around nine at night. I was exhausted and ready for bed.
I had literally just closed my eyes when my phone rang. I was just letting it ring when I realized it could be my sister. I answered it just in time.
"Hello?" I asked.
All I could hear on the other line was laughter and shouting. It sounded like whoever was on the other line was at a party. I checked the caller ID and saw it was Kyler. I rolled my eyes. He had better have a good reason to call me.
"Kyler!" I shouted. I hear mumbling and shouted his name again.
All the sudden the noise died down and I heard his breathing.
"Viven?" He asked quietly. I waited until he said more but he never did.
"Hello?" I asked. I about dropped my phone when he yelled my name. I pulled the phone away from my ear and roll my eyes. When I put the phone back I heard muffled laughter.
"What's funny?" I asked with caution.
"Viven, my bestest friend of the whole entire country." He said. I almost burst out laughing. By then I had pieced together the clues. Kyler, who was obviously drunk, was at a party and needed a ride home. I didn't think we were close enough for this.
"Do you need me to come and get you." I asked. It got silent on the other line. "Hello?" I asked.
"Are you a mind reader?" He asked. I laughed but didn't say anything else and hung up. I heard Summer talking about Heather having a party. I didn't know Heather personally but I knew where her family lived.
I left the house without anyone asking where I was going. It's a upside to having parents who were never home. My sister is too busy finishing her packing. I got into her car because it was parked behind my vehicle. She left her doors unlocked and her keys in the car. My sister could be so careless sometimes.
I drove to the house and saw that there were a lot of cars parked there. When I park and walked towards the house I could here the music. The closer I got there, the clearer the music got. I opened the door without knocking because I knew no one was going to hear the knock over the door.
"Hey!" Someone called out to me but I never knew who it was. I pushed through the crowd trying to find someone. I looked for Kyler and soon I began to feel really dizzy from the loudness of everyone. I heard people talking behind my back about me but I didn't listen.
After searching for a while I was going to give up when I felt arms go around me waist. I flipped around ready to defend myself when I saw it was just Summer. She smiled at me lazily and I looked behind her. There sound Kyler looking perfectly sober. He just waved and I left Summer and stomped over there.
"You don't look drunk." I stated. He looked at me confused before you could see the lightbulb go off. He starts laughing and I glare at him unamused.
"I called you so you'd come here." He said. I stepped back from him as he tried to come closer.
"Why do you think I'd have fun here?" I asked. He wrinkled his forehead in confusion. "Isn't this fun to you?" He asked. I shook my head.
"Well other blondes seem to enjoy it." He said pointing to be drunk blonde who was dancing on the table. I clenched my fists. Why could he get it through his thick skull just because I was blonde that I liked to drink and party and also, that I'm not smart.
"This may be someone's idea of fun." I said. "But it isn't mine. I would prefer to read a book or do homework over this." I pointed to the girl on the table. "I would never do that." I saw another girl with blonde hair throwing up into a vase. " I would never do that either." People were looking over because my voice was raising but, I didn't care.
"Just because we have the same colored hair doesn't mean that we're all the same." I shouted. "I'm not dumb and I don't enjoy shopping." "I'm tired of getting judged because the color of my hair. My hair doesn't define me and you know what, if you can't stop with all these stereotypes about blondes then please don't talk to me." I shouted as I started backing towards the door.
Once I left the house my eyes stopped ringing as much. I got into the car and drove back to my house. When I parked I just stared out the windows shield. I thought things were going fine with Kyler. I didn't understand where all this is coming from.
When Kyler first came to me to help me with Kyle, he said how he thought I was different. Yet he stills tries to stereotype me. He was just confusing me and what he pulled back at the party frustrated me. He would say one thing and then go and say something else completely different.
I decided to do something completely weird. I picked up my phone and called Summer. I knew she was probably still at the party but I hoped she would answer.
"Hello?" She answered.
"Summer?" I asked. It was quiet on the other line so she must have left the party.
"Are you asking about Kyler?" She asked. For someone I had just meet at the beginning of the school year, she knew me quite well.
"Yes." I admitted. I heard a sigh.
"Viven, I really didn't want to tell you this but, Kyler's been talking behind your back." She said. I stayed quiet wanting to hear what she had to say next. "He talks about how you're not smart enough to get your father's business and, that's why he's getting it."
"What else?" I asked when she didn't say anything.
"He spread the rumor that you paid teachers to give you good grades not Kyle."
"But he's the one who helped me get revenge on Kyle." I said.
"He did that so Kyle wouldn't get your dad's business." She said. "Kyler forced Kyle too tease you and calls you mean things so you would hate him and like Kyler." I let all of that sink in.
"Well thanks Summer, I've got to go." I said. She hung up first and I scrolled down my contacts. When I found the one I wanted I called it.
"Hello?"
"Hey Kyle? Can I come over?"
