She ran.. She just kept running. It was the only thing to do.
Ace ran as fast as she could, with the boy with the bionic arm in her arms. She wasn't going to bother and waste the time to see if he would walk with the minor flesh wound to his leg, or even run. So she just picked him up and ran. He didn't protest nor say anything, just stayed silent which Ace was very great full for.
She looks back quickly to see Kor laying on the ground, with a single arrow through his skull. She shouldn't have done that, she wasn't thinking, Kor was going to shoot so that's exactly what she did too. The faction will know that she did it, they are going to know that she was the one who killed their faction leader. And they're going to want to come after her. She's the only one who uses a bow and arrow, she didn't even notice any of the bionic soldiers using one either. Oh well, that's a problem to deal with another time.
She slows down her run to a fast walk as she got a good enough distance from the "war zone". She scans the area for a good enough crater/cave that would serve as a good hide away for a while. Which wasn't hard to find. She quickly walks into the cavern which was actually a pretty decent size. She walks to the center of the small cavern and drops the boy on the dirt.
"You could have been a little more gentle..", he says, talking for the first time since the incident."Tell me why you did it.", Ace says seriously, turning to face him. He shrugs in return. Ace turns to look him in the eye, wanting an actual answer.
"Why.", she says more sincerely, trying to not seem as much a threat hoping that will get him to talk.
"I don't know", he starts saying quietly, "they just kept speaking to me and..and I didn't want to listen, I refused to listen. Then I saw you fall from the top of the wall and I-and I saw the guy with the bionic feet try to kill you and just, you looked so scared. Yet they kept speaking, yelling, I just wanted it to stop. So I killed him. I didn't want him to kill you, I didn't want anyone to kill anyone.". Ace cuts him off to ask, "What do you mean by they? Who?".
He hesitates to speak but says, "the ones who made me like this, I don't even remember who I was before this." He says while inspecting his own bionic arm. Ace sits down next to him. She scans his arm, it's interesting."Can I?", she says wanting to look at the arm herself. And he lets her do so. She carefully handles the arm as if it was a fragile object, which is most certainly wasn't.
"Do all of soldiers with something replaced also have it look like like the corresponding part of a human skeleton?", she asks truly intrigued.
"For the most part yeah", he replies."It's so cold to the touch", she says as if she was amazed by it.
"Yeah I guess you could say, it's pretty...bone-chilling.", he says back with a slight smile.
"Was that, what that a pun?", she asks. Which he nods back clearly amused by his own pun. Not even a full hour after these two almost got killed and he's already telling puns. Ace chuckles, she just knows that she's really going to grow to like this one. After all, he basically saved her from certain death, and she did the same back.
"What's your name anyways?", Ace asks him.
He shrugs in return, "I don't know, they never gave me one and I don't remember what it was before.", he replies sounding sad, which Ace could understand why. She thinks for a moment.
"How about Scrap.", she says looking at his arm again. He shrugs not really signifying if he liked it or not. Oh well it's going to stay if he likes it or now.
----The two spent the rest of the day talking mindlessly like they known each other for most of their lives. Although things got depressing once Scrap started talking about them, he won't say what they are called and Ace wasn't going to fight him on that small detail. He explained what it was like, how they're treated and how they "reinforce" the rules when you don't follow. It was pretty disheartening to hear about, making her wonder more about how he managed to, you know, not be under control like a puppet in a game of war and actually do what he was created to do.
