I was standing on the roof and it creaked under my feet. So I sat down so my wight wouldn't just be in one spot making my chances of falling through greater. I scooted down to the edge of the roof the fall looked long but most of the time when something looks high up it's actually not so I jumped.
Landing on my knees I stood up looking behind me one last time hoping the shadows of the moon wouldn't give me away. Making sure no one could see me then I turned and ran through the gate and down the long dirt road. The giant mansion seemed to fade out and get smaller in the darkness. I looked back one more time making sure that no one could see me. I stopped at the end of the road and watched the dust that I stirred up spill back onto the road. As I looked up my eye's caught hold of a giant white and silver pile. It was hard to make out in the darkness.
Walking closer I realized what it was. It was a ginormous pile of bowls and spoons I dug through them pushing them this way and that. They clattered and shattered against rocks and dirt. In the center of the pile sat a bowl with a spoon in it was a spoon and oatmeal. I stuck my finger in the oatmeal and tried a bit of it. It tasted sweet but my head immediately started pounding. So I dumped it on the ground as I fell to the ground hands to my head I saw something shining in the moonlight. Dripping in oatmeal was a key. It was like a skeleton key and I picked it up wiping the oatmeal from it holding it to the moonlight.
A light caught my eye and I looked up "MAMMA!" I screamed and the tears came. She smiled and pointed in a straight line down a long dirt road. The same way she pointed to the door screaming at me to run that night. Instead this time she was smiling that sweet smile with her long blonde hair surrounding her head. Then she disappeared taking a cloud of dust up with her.
I ran along the road crying and stumbling. I fell to my knees looking down feeling defeated where now where do I go? Why do I have to go here? Where was here? Why did mamma leave me?
I looked up to the sky's the stars were shining brilliantly above my head. A tremendous gate to the heavens. Some say death is closer to you at night for they won't be seen as easily. But mama always said you were closer to life the greatest time to be alive is at night when everyone is resting from the day you can do what you want. Run jump leap scream and no one will know no one will judge because how can they when their all lost in their own minds. The stars were put their to remind us of the time we have to be free every one of those stars counts as the fire that you have to be alive.
The stars also reminded me to look up from the spot I was. My stationary spot. I'll never find where Mamma wanted me to go unless I keep going. So I stood sniffing in the tears and letting go of my breath so I had room to start a new one. A new breath. A new beginning maybe a new place to be. I looked ahead ignoring the sting in my eye's.
In the distance something glimmered. Something shone not reflecting but creating it's own light. I squinted I had a ton of energy so I ran my bare feet which I now noticed were bare felt the earth under me. The fine powdery dirt kicked up and slipped back into a new place. Just like me. I was slipping into a new place. I ran the night stars and moon helping me through. As I neared the light I realized it was a door it had a number 3 on it. I walked up towards it I turned to look at the beauty behind me. I held the skeleton key to the door. It seemed to radiate in the light looked as if it was breathing heavy from the long journey just like me.
I placed the key into the lock on the door. I turned it and with a click the door opened behind the door was bright incredibly bright. I put my hands in front of my eye's letting go of the key. But I was to curious I moved my hands trying to peak through the glare. It was It was.
I opened my eye's staring up at the ceiling the light from the window reflected the blue paint onto the ceiling making it look a few shades lighter of a blue. "It was It was a dream" I said putting a hand onto my face.
