Adriana’s Pov

No. No, no, no, no, no!  Zane had seen me transform into what I really am!  The swamp bride.  I can’t believe it.  Now he’ll never forgive me.  I saw his terrified face.  The look in his eyes when he saw me.  The look of his face, filled with terror.  I walked up to him, unable to explain it him what happened.  I whispered,

“Ego simper amem te. Ignosces.”

I returned to the lake, to satisfy my craving.  I was so sad.  Zane saw me.  I don’t know what to do.

It was morning.  I found myself back at the campsite, but I was in Zane’s tent, and his arms were around me.  Did he carry me back here?  After what he saw?  What happened!  I got up and walked back to my tent to get changed.  Soon, everyone else woke up, and we ate breakfast.

“Okay kids!” Mr. Olives said.  “Let’s head down to the lodge, for some games!  Then we’ll head to the fields over there for some sports.”

Before I was able to go along with the group, Zane pushed me against the wall, hands on each side of me.  In a confused tone, he asked,

“Ok.  What happened last night?  I know I wasn’t dreaming.  Who… what are you?”

I hesitated for a moment, but then decided it would be okay to tell him.  I sighed.

“Well…” I started.  “I-I’m… the… swamp bride.”

“What?” he asked.

I sighed heavily again.  “I am… the swamp bride.  Like the one in Billy’s story.  But I never ate that couple.  I only… drank their blood.”

He looked at me with wide eyes, and a confused yet scared look.

“Well,” I said. “See, what had happened was, I did get married once.  It was an arranged marriage between my parents, and this snobby rich guy who was like seven years older than me.  And I was thirteen!   Anyways, we got married, which was like the worst day of my life.  One day, he left.  Just like that.  All of my stuff was gone, and all my money.  He came back one day drunk, and he had spent my money, and sold all my stuff.  Then…”

I couldn’t say it.  It was too painful.

“He did something terrible to me, at the nearby swamp.  He left me there, with no clothes, cold, and left me to die.  My parents did nothing about it.  They left too.  I wanted vengeance.  I… I killed him.  I pretended to want him back.  I called him and acted desperate.  He invited me into his house, and before we got into bed, I drugged him.  I buried his body in the swamp… abused me, and as I stared into the swamp. The moonlight shone into my eyes.  It was blinding.  And then, next thing I knew, I was in my wedding dress, but my face was disfigured.  I had been cursed for killing him.  I don’t know how to break it, but now, every night, on the same day as my wedding, my body changes into the form of a monster.  Because… I am one.”

I started to cry hysterically, and Zane took a step back.  His face had mixed emotions.  Pity, grief, and horror.  He turned around to go to the lodge, but then ran back to me, and wrapped me into an embrace.  That made me cry even more.  He knew I was a murderous monster now.  Why is he being so nice to me?  I don’t deserve this.  I pulled him away, and I ran to the group, greeting Cindy.

“Hey!  What’s up?” she cheers.

“Oh nothing.” I smile, but you can definitely tell it was fake.  Luckily, Cindy was checking out Billy Hunter.  When we reached the lodge, Courtney ran up to Zane, and handed him a can of soda.

“Here you go my Zaney Waney!  I got it especially for you!” she jumped.  She handed him the soda can with her number on it.  Then, she inhaled, making her chest protrude.  I noticed that she was wearing a super tiny t-shirt that was very low cut, and shorts that could be considered as underwear.  Her hair was up and curled, and her makeup was heavy.  I was still envious of her.  Her perfect shape, her curves, her long blonde hair, her bright blue eyes, and her thin body.  She grabbed Zane’s collar and passionately kissed him on the lips, while smirking at me.  That made me hurt on the inside, and I quickly looked away.  Tears were swelling inside of my eyes, but I stopped myself from crying.  Why am I even thinking about crying?  I don’t mean anything to him.  I turned around and walked towards Cindy, who was talking to Billy.  I didn’t want to intrude, so I turned around, and passed Zane who was now prying Courtney off his body.  I walked into the lodge, and saw probably around three games.  Jump roping, bobbing for apples, and dancing.  Oh joy.  I walked towards the jump roping station and picked up a jump rope.  As I started to turn the rope, Cindy walked in, still talking to Billy, and Zane followed, with Courtney hugging his arm.  I turned the rope faster, and jumped harder.  After about ten minutes of jumping, I felt dizzy, but I kept going.  I still didn’t know what I would do.  I really hope he doesn’t tell anyone.  And I hope this doesn’t affect our friend ship.
