"So," Amber asked as I shut the fridge door. "Did he walk you home?"

"No."

"What? I was sure he'd be nice enough to do that."

"I didn't let him walk me home," I sighed knowing the exact facial expression she made at my response.

"You didn't?"

"No, and don't act like you don't know why."

"Okay, maybe he could've cleaned up better but he wasn't that bad."

Glad that someone was knocking on my door I sat my pizza down before dusting my hands off.

"I'll call you back, someone's at the door."

Hanging up I hopped over the edge of the chair before running to the door and pulling it open.

I wasn't expecting anyone but I'm not quite sure why I didn't expect to find James on the other side.

The moment I saw him I went to shut the door but he put his hand up preventing the action before giving me a smile.

"Remind me to never stop by your place in the morning," he chuckled at my rolling eyes.

"What are you doing here?"

Ignoring my question he brushed his way past me reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out an envelope.

"What's that?"

Shooting me a smile he let his eyes take me in.

"Nice...pj's" he pointed as he took in my Hello Kitty shorts and tank top, the smile tugging at his lips making me roll my eyes.

"What's in the envelope?"

"First, are you free tonight?"

Yes.

Shaking my head I took in the suspicious look he gave me not changing my answer as he closed the distance between us.

"That's too bad," he smiled stopping in front of me. "I was kinda hoping you'd like to come with me to a party, but I guess you can't-"

"A party?"

Taking in my raised eyebrow he smiled, "yes. A party."

"What kind of party is it?"

"Just a party with a couple of friends."

"Are you sure you want me to come, don't want anyone getting the wrong idea about us."

Taking the envelope from him, I couldn't suppress the giggles that came as he pulled me into him pressing his lips against my neck.

"Please," he sighed his smile pressing against my skin as his hands wrapped around my waist.

Before I could fully wrap my arms around his neck he lifted me up and carried me down the hall.

Keeping my eyes on the screen in front of me I didn't bother looking towards the front door as it opened and shut.

"Bout time you got up," James laughed as he collapsed on the sofa next to me.

"I was up before you, I just went for a run."

"Oh." Picking up the remote he began flipping through channels not saying anything else.

He didn't even have to tell me, I knew where he was when I got back. I was just surprised that he stayed that long.

"How's Lola?"

"Fine," he shot me a smile before glancing back to the tv screen. "Look man, I'm all for you staying here until you get everything sorted out but I'm not going to sit here and let you mope over a girl that left you four months ago."

"I'm not."

I took in his look of disbelief as he ran his fingers through his hair.

"I'm just saying; come to the party tonight, hook up with some girls."

"I'm good."

"I meant girl," he added. "You know what I always say the best way to get over someone..."

Taking in his expectant gaze I finished, "is to get under someone else."

If only he knew it wasn't that easy for me.

You know that feeling you get in the back of your mind that a decision you're making probably isn't the best one?

Yeah well, I got that this morning when James left my apartment but yet here I am. Right where he asked me to be.

And here we were another argument bubbling between us, and here he was once again laughing as if he didn't understand it.

I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Maybe in some alternate universe it's not okay for me to be upset that the guy I'm hooking up with has somehow found a way to turn beer pong into some make out game. And then reject him once he tries to kiss me the second after he's kissed someone else.

I know he's not my boyfriend and all, but I really don't want him kissing me after he's kissed some drunk girl I've never even met.

Or no girl at that.

"No-are fucking kidding me?" Shoving his face away I moved my hand out of his reach as he rolled his neck.

"What's your problem?"

"My problem is that I'm tired of seeing you throw yourself on other girls then expect me to be all gung-ho about you climbing in bed with me afterwards."

"We already talked about this Lola, I'm not looking for a relationship right now-"

"And that's fine. Once again I was that stupid girl who thought she'd be the exception to your stupid little set of rules, but it doesn't even matter anymore because whatever this thing is I'm done with it."

His expression was taken back for a brief second before he let a smile spread across his face.

"Sure," he laughed. "I guess I'll see you around neighbor."

"Yeah."

Shoving my way past him I ignored Dave's "hey" as I slipped between him and the stairwell door he held open for me.
