It was a sunny Tuesday afternoon and I was performing at Federation Square again. The City was busy at this time of afternoon with all the people on their lunch breaks and it being school holidays so there were kids everywhere. I finished my set at Fed Square and decided to take my things and go find another place to play. I just needed a change of scenery. I've been performing in the same place here for around 2 years and I think it's time for something different. I walk down a few busy roads with lots of cars honking their horns and bikes ringing their bells. I crossed the bridge over the Yarra River and decided to make my way to the Crown towers. This is my chance I thought, all the celebrities stay at crown. If I am going to be discovered anywhere in the city of melbourne, it will be here. I knew my chances of seeing anyone who could help me with my career would be slim but it was worth a shot. I set up my guitar, my microphone and my amp and started my set again right outside the hotel. It sounds strange but it was a different atmosphere here than it was where I play every other day. The people here are more relaxed and not so rushed and stressed. As I sing I watch the people walking past me. The couple a few meters away holding hands and admiring the view of the city in front of them. The old man sitting on the chair as sleep slowly falls over him. The screaming girls surrounding someone walking out of the hotel. Wait a second... I try to take a closer look but it is difficult to see over all the heads of the girls trying to get this persons attention. I keep playing and focus on other things figuring I'll never be noticed by whoever that was. I look at the birds flying to close to the cars as the grumpy driver try not to hit them with their perfect looking cars. I finish my set and start to pack up when I hear someone clapping and talking to me. I had been so focused on everything else that I hadn't noticed the screaming girls had gotten closer and the person they were screaming over was standing right in front of me. Oh my god... It was Louis Tomlinson from One Direction. "You are so good." He said, staring at me right in the eyes. I had no words. What could I say? One of the most famous people in the world was standing right in front of me telling me I was good? "Th- thanks" I stuttered, trying, and failing, to not look nervous. "I'm Louis Tomlinson. I heard you playing and just had to come over. Of course it was sort of hard to hear you but from what I could here you were amazing." He smiled at me as I tried to come up with something to say. "Thank you so much." I said to him. "I'm Evangaline Parlette but everyone just calls me Eva. I didn't think you woukd be able to here anything with all those girls screaming in your ear." I laughed. He smiled brighter showing off his gorgeous white teeth. "Well," he said "I don't have much time now but I'm free pretty much all day tomorrow..." He hands me a card with an address and a phone number on it. "If you have any free time tomorrow, go to that address and if no one is there, call the number and I'll be there. I want don't want today to be the last I hear from you. You are way too amazing and I would love to hear more." He tells me. I take the card and recognise the address as a recording studio. I look up to thank him again but he has already walked away along with all the fans that were glaring at me the whole time he talked to me. I pack my things and walk to my car. This feels like a dream. There is no way I am not going tomorrow. This might be my only chance to achieve my dream and I am definitely taking it.
