Sydney sat on her bed and cried over her mother's death. Allison and her dad both tried to explain to her what happened, and she felt horrible that she was so cold to her mother. She blamed herself for what happened, she could have stopped Derek at the rave. Sydney could have saved her mother. Thankfully, she was pulled from her thoughts as her phone rang.
The huntress picked it up and answered in a shaky voice, "Hello?" Stiles talked fast on the other end, "Hey, can you meet us down at the station? We know who the murderer is." Sydney mulled it over and decided that she needed a distraction, so she stated, "Yeah, I'm on my way." The girl hung up and changed out of her pajamas into an all black number. She didn't think she would need any of her weapons, so she left them in her hiding place.
Sydney walked out of her room and house without being noticed, and she sped off to the police station. She met the boys as they walked in, and Scott asked her, "Hey, have you been crying?" Sydney let in a shaky breath, and she lied, "I'm fine." "No you're not. What happened?" Stiles shut her down as they reached the door, and the girl gave up and stated, "Later."
The group then walked into the station, and the woman at the desk pointed out, "It's two in the morning." Mr. Stilinski sighed and coaxed, "Believe me, I wouldn't be here if t wasn't extremely important." Sydney blocked the boys out as they discussed that they should check out the hospital videos first. The Sheriff then led the teens to his old office, and soon, they were reviewing the tapes.
"I don't know about this. There was a six car pile up at the hospital last night, the ER was jammed." The man informed them, but Stiles rambled, "Keep going. He had to pass one of the cameras on that floor to get to Jessica, okay? He's gotta be on there somewhere." Scott pointed out Matt on the footage, but it was only his back. "All I see is the back of someone's head." Mr. Stilinski said, and his son retorted, "Matt's head. I sit behind him in history, he has a very particular cranium. It's weird."
"Are you crazy?" The man retorted, and Stiles tried to convince his dad, "Look at his leather jacket. How many people do you know who wear black leather jackets?" "Millions, literally." Sydney then ordered them to scroll forward to look at the next camera, and the Sheriff did as he was told. "Wait, he's talking to someone." Sydney said, and Scott elaborated, "He's talking to my mom."
Scott called his mom, who informed the group that she stopped Matt for tracking mud into the hall. "Alright, we've got shoe tracks at the trailer site." The Sheriff spoke, and Sydney added, "If they match, that puts Matt at the site of three murders: the trailer, the hospital, and the rave." Mr. Stilinski corrected her, "Actually four. A receipt for an oil change was signed by Matt at the garage where the mechanic was killed."
"When?" Stiles asked, and his father told, "A couple hours before you got there." Stiles then questioned his dad while Sydney and Scott looked at each other, "So, Dad. If one's an accident, two's a coincidence, and three's a pattern, what's four?" What his dad said made Stiles elated, "Four's enough for a warrant. Scott, call your mom back and see how quickly she can get here. If I can get an official ID, I can get a search warrant. Stiles, go to the front desk and tell them to let Scott's mom in when she gets here."
Sydney stood next to Scott as they faced Mr. Stilinski. But, the two turned when they saw the man's face shift. The three of them witnessed Matt forcing Stiles into the room with a gun pointed at him. "Matt. Whatever's going on, I can guarantee that there's a solution that doesn't involve a gun." "You know, it's funny you say that because you have no idea how right you are."
The Sheriff tried to get him to put the gun away by pointing out that Matt didn't want to hurt people, but Sydney knew Matt's intentions. "Actually, I want to hurt a lot of people. You four weren't on my list, especially Sydney, but I can be persuaded. And one way is to try dialing someone on your cell phone like McCall is doing." The teen spoke, and Sydney's head whipped to see Scott with his hand in his pocket.
