Born Under a Bad Sign: six
Castiel is quiet and respectful, he doesn't understand a lot of things but Sam knew what that was like, he has a gravelly voice, deep and rich, a storyteller's voice. He's gentle and cares for Dean a great deal, Sam can see that, he's kind to Sam and never treats him as less.
Sam hates Castiel.
He and Dean always together, talking quietly to each other than hushing the moment Sam steps into the room. These odd looks in their eyes whenever they look at each other, back turned or not. Sam didn't understand and he almost hates that more. This Castiel man was taking Dean away from him, and he was watching Sam realise it with delighted pleasure.
Two months have passed since that morning that Sam first met him, he's spoken very little to Castiel, choosing only to glare at the blue eyed man from his spot in the back seat. It ought to be him at Dean's side in the front of the impala, not Castiel.
Sam saw how happy Castiel made Dean, he would smile and laugh and shake his head, those green eyes would light up in a way they'd never done with Sam, ever. They'd been travelling still, Sam still kills with blank expressions and uncaring attitude towards it all, he never quite got why they would scream and beg so much. Why did living mean so much to them? Life was nothing but confusion and strange feelings for Sam, the feelings towards his brother, the ones he doesn't understand.
But didn't kill anymore, he would hush Sam whenever he went to suggest they do something along the lines of their occupation. He would take his head then glance at Castiel with a look on his face that made Sam want to hurt Castiel, Sam didn't understand the feeling, much like he didn't understand many things but there was something about this violent wish in the pit of his stomach; it felt different.
"Sam?"
He looks up from the mug he's nursing in his hands, Dean's bright green eyes bore into Sam's hazel ones. Sam tilts his head slightly as Dean sits down at the small motel table opposite him.
"Castiel has invited us both to dinner with his family." He says smoothly, "and you're coming, alright?" Sam scowls and looks away, feeling like a child.
"Why?" Sam whispers, Dean looks surprised that his brother chose to speak but answers his question anyway.
"Because I don't want you left alone for so long, and besides, they'd like to meet you." Sam nods and Dean smiles and pats his shoulder, Castiel moves out of the bathroom in that second, Dean beams and stands to go over to him, leaving Sam alone at the table again.
That feeling in his gut is back, Sam didn't know if Dean had ever met Castiel's family. The two went out without him so often that Sam stopped listening when they told him where they were off to, early on Sam would request to go with them but he was always too silent, too tall and awkward. They were happier without him, he could see that, Dean was happier with Castiel then with Sam.
The house looks warm, quite large with light glowing from within the windows. The Impala slows to a smooth stop, Dean and Castiel climb out easily but Sam struggles due to his height, normally he wouldn't mind, but everything seemed so much more difficult these days. Dean took Castiel's hand in his own as they walked up the small path to the house, Sam following behind.
Castiel opens the door without knocking and walks in, calling out his presence. A bearded man appears, he looks younger than he is with quiet eyes. He shakes Dean's hand and gives Castiel a thump on the back, his eyes meet Sam's and he smiles warmly.
"I'm Chuck, Castiel's father. You must be Sam." He doesn't like that this man-Chuck knows his name without Sam telling him, but he nods in greeting- though that's all he does.
They're lead into a living room with large couches and a silent tv playing some kind of sports game. Two young men are sitting on the couches, two young women, a ten and 6 year old on the floor.
"Dean-o! Cassie!" One of the young men cries out and sends Dean a flirty grin, his eyes drift to Sam and he grins wider, "and who's this delicious Sasquatch?"
"This is Dean's brother, Sam." Castiel says in that deep voice of his, "Sam, this is Gabriel, my brother."
"Sit down lads, make yourself at home, dinner will be a few'." Chuck says, Dean and Castiel sit down together on the couch leaving Sam standing and glancing around worriedly.
"The furniture isn't going to bite you, Sammich." Gabriel grins, Sam ignore him and sits down on an armchair, he crosses his legs and fiddles with his jacket, wishing he could just go back to the motel.
"Cassie," his eyes snap to Gabriel's who grins, he's very short with dark blonde hair, "You didn't bother to introduce Sam to the rest? I know you're your favourite brother but really." Gabriel chuckles at him own joke and clicks in the women and other man's faces catching their attentions, "this is Michael, Anna, Hannah, that ten year old there is Raphael and then snotty six year old is Balthazar."
Sam didn't understand why this Gabriel thought he would care but he nods in greeting to them all, Balthazar lets out a cry of outrage and tackles his older brother.
"Where's Luci?" Michael questions, thick black hair and green eyes, he looks to Castiel who shrugs. Sam stares at Michael for a few seconds feeling like he'd seen him before, but where?
"I didn't see him." Castiel replies, Dean shrugs from beside him.
Sam leans against his hand, propped up on the arm of the chair. He observes the room, the chatting siblings and Dean. Such a large family, Anna and Michael and Castiel looked a little alike but the rest had completely different features, probably adopted Sam thought with one glance at little Raphael's dark skin compared to the light skin of the rest.
Suddenly the door opens and admits another man, he's tall with blonde hair and scars on his face. He glances around the room until he sees Sam and stops dead.
Sam stares right back and frowns, Lucifer?
Urgh that ending, *sigh* idek. Sorry for the wait ^.^ Thoughts?
Love Percy xx
