( Darcy's POV )

"Okay Jemma, you can dress now." He doctor said as she cleaned the gel off of Gemma's swollen belly. "Everything looks good as expected. The baby is not breached, still has his head down and is even lower than before so that's great progress.

I smiled at Jemma who was putting her shirt down and over her belly. "So I guess the next time we see you will most likely be when the baby is ready to come."

The doctor nodded as she took off the gloves. "Yes, exactly, which should be anytime now since you've passed your due date already, all you need to do is wait for the baby to make his entry." She was addressing Jemma directly, but made sure to keep eye contact with us both in order for us to understand that we were all a part of  this journey. She then smiled and got up before shaking my hand.

        "Thanks, doctor." I got up.

"Call me if anything happens." She said before leaving us in the room. I sat down as I waited for Jemma to get herself together while reading the text Charlotte had sent through while I was talking to the doctor.

I smiled fondly at the picture she had sent in of herself laying in her brand new bed. I absolutely loved making her happy, and seeing that smile on her face was everything. It also didn't hurt that now that she had her place, she wouldn't complain about seeing Jemma at mine which was another thing I had to take care of.

"So, I didn't hear you come in last night," I heard coming from Jemma who was buttoning up her shirt.
"Because I didn't. I came in this morning just in time to change clothes and take you to the doctor." I answered nonchalantly as I locked the screen of my phone and put it back in my pants pockets.

"Oh, uhm where were you?" I watched her watch me from the corner of her eye.

"I was at Charlotte's." I got up to help her off the bed so that she could put her shoes on and we could go home. I had to be back at the office in a few hours.

"Didn't you say she lives with a friend?"

"She did," I opened the door to let her walk out. "Until yesterday night that is."

"What do you mean?" She stopped walking as she looked back at me while rocking a frown on her face which I failed to understand why it was there to begin with.

What was up with all those questions? "I bought her a house, Jemma." I stood In front of her with my hands in my pockets, maybe that will stop all other questions she might have which I didn't feel like answering.

She dropped her purse to the floor as she stared at me with wide eyes and opened mouth. "WHAT!? YOU DID WHAT!?"

I shrugged, getting bored with the conversation and the dramatic responses coming from her. "It was her birthday so I bought her a house, no big deal." I started walking away, a cue for her to join me. I didn't have time to waste on arguments that would send us nowhere.

"B_BU_BUT JAMES! HOW CAN YOU BUY HER A HOUSE? I'M THE ONE HAVING YOUR BABY." She was yelling after me but the only thing that truly mattered was that she was  following behind.

"Jesus Jemma, it's not a competition and trust me buying her a house is nothing compared to what I've done for you. So please, stop with the pouting." I said as I walked into the clinic's waiting room and straight to the door which I opened and waited for her. "Are you coming or not? I really don't have all day." She mumbled something incomprehensively as she walked passed me.
