It's been a long while since I last updated this story, but it's up now. Please comment, vote, and share. (:

While I was sitting in the chair waiting to be called into the office, I realized that I was shaking and my palms were clammy. I whipped my hands on the pair of jeans I had borrowed from Louis. That boy had a weird taste in fashion, how he pulls it off I have idea. To get my mind off of the situation, I tried to think about something else. I wonder how my parents and Greg are doing. Wait, why should I care? I wondered bitterly. They didn't want me. Sighing, I shook my head. No matter how much I tried to forget them though, I still missed them and couldn't help but wish I could see them one last time, especially my mum. The two of us had a better relationship with each other than I ever had with my father. Before I could change my line of thought, a wave of homesickness hit me like a tsunami. Taking in a shaky breath, I put my head in my hands.

The door next to me then opened and Liam poked his head out. He looked around before his eyes landed on me. When he saw my slightly watery eyes, his own filled  with concern.

"What's wrong, Ni?" He questioned with a frown.

I shook my head again. "Nothing Li, just old memories." I murmured.

"Ok, but just know that you can tell the boys and I anything." I nodded.

"But right now, Simon wants to speak with you." With that, I stood up and followed him. But before I stepped into the office, I hesitated. I was about to meet The Simon Cowell. Liam pulled me out of my thoughts by grabbing my hand and dragging me into the room. The minute I passed the doorway, I avoided any eye-contact and directed my gaze to the floor. As I fiddled with my hands nervously, I vaguely heard a few words spoken around me as well as feet shuffling around and finally, a door closing. Simon cleared his throat and I snapped my head up.

Standing up, he walked over to me and held his hand out. "So you must be the Niall Horan that I'm hearing so much about." I chuckled nervously and shook his hand.

"Yes sir."

"It has come to my attention Niall, that the boys think you have what it takes to be in One Direction." He paused before continuing. "In order for that to happen though, I need to hear for myself what you have to offer. So sing whatever your heart desires and show me what you got."

"I have a song, but do you have a piano?" He nodded and led me over to one in another room. I sat down on the bench and played a few notes. Finally, I took a deep breath before playing my song for Simon.

When I was done, I looked over at Simon to see an approving smile on his face. "I'm impressed. You're in." If I had smiled any bigger, I think my face would've split in half. "Although," and like a light my smile was gone. "Have you tried to play that song with a guitar instead of a piano?" I thought about it, then shook my head no. He stood up and walked over to the wall, picked up one of the acoustic guitars, and walked back over, handing it to me.

"You know how to play right?" I nodded and played Change My Mind, singing the notes, with the guitar. When I was finished, I looked at Simon with a grin.

"I like it."

"Likewise. This song should be added to the new album. Of course, we're also gonna have to introduce your voice into the sound of One Direction music. But we can work on that later, for now however, we need to do something with your looks." I agreed. I wasn't too fond either of how I looked. My hair was so long it almost reached my shoulders for one thing. I also needed different clothes.

"I should have told you, but the boys are at an interview. So while they are doing that, you are going to pay a visit to Lou Teasdale, who is going to fix you up. And once you're done with that, I'm gonna call the rest of management and get them over here to explain with me the conditions of being in the band, and explain the contract further." I nodded and he led me out the door, down the corridors and to a room. We entered through the doorway and I was introduced to this woman with platinum blonde hair.

"Hello, I'm Lou Teasdale and you must be Niall."

I smiled. "I am. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Niall."

"So, let's get this party started." She smirked.

"Done!" Lou squealed, making me chuckle. "Prepare yourself Niall!" She held her hands over my eyes and turned me towards the mirror. When she removed her hands, I gasped. My hair has been styled up into a slightly messy quiff and what surprised me even more was the blonde tips of hair. It looked good.

"You dyed my hair blonde?" I questioned.

"Do you like it?"

"No. I love it! Thank you Lou!" I shouted excitedly while hugging her, causing her to laugh.

There was a knock on the door and Simon walked in. "Great job Lou. Thank you."

"Now you just need to sign here, and here and we'll be done."  Simon motioned towards the two blanks. When I wrote my signature on both, Simon took up the contract and put it in a file. Then he held his hand out. I shook it with a smile.

"Welcome to One Direction, Niall."
