As soon as I knocked on Louis’ door the next afternoon, I heard Ollie bark.  I smiled, excited to see that adorable dog again.  Louis opened the door, his hair somewhat messy and his eyes tired.  He was wearing a Superman t-shirt, jean shorts, and Converse sneakers.

“Well you look sleepy.” I observed.

“Yeah, just a little.  Ollie Man had trouble sleeping.” He said, revealing Ollie from behind his knees.

“Aww, come here, Ollie!  Did you miss me?” I asked, petting him.  Ollie licked my face and jumped on me, and I laughed.  “Sorry he kept you up, that stinks.”

“It’s no big deal, I think he just needs to get used to his new home.”

“You mean temporary home.” I corrected.

“Right.  You’re gonna be the one to break first, and you know it.”

“Yes I do.  But that’s only because you’re so good at holding it in.” I said, and he nodded in agreement.

“Come on in.” he said, letting me walk in before closing the door behind me.  The apartment was the spitting image of Leah and Bobby’s, yet it was decorated very differently.  There was a more modern and less sophisticated aspect to the apartment.  The walls were painted a simple white and there were black and white pictures of the New York skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, and the Grand Canyon hanging on the walls of the living room.  The kitchen table was bright red with two green chairs and two purple chairs (which reminded me of the infamous apartment on Friends).

         “So where’s you family?”

“Actually, we are going to my parents house now, I thought that we could walk Ollie there.”

My eyes widened.  “You don’t live with them?” Louis shook his head.  “But I thought that you said you needed to see if it was alright if you could bring home Ollie.”

“Well I still needed to let them know, because they are the landlords.”

“Really?  For the entire apartment complex?”

“Yep.  Em and I moved here with Coop last year.  Since Coop and I are twenty-one, we thought it was time to move from home.  Especially because most kids our age already went away to go to college.”

“Yeah, I guess that makes sense.”

“Is it expensive?  I’ve only lived in the dorms at my school.”

“Yeah, which is why I’ve done gigs at Co Cos and began teaching piano lessons for cash.”

“Do you teach little kids?” I said, googly-eyed.

He laughed.  “Yeah, and I’m pretty good at it.”

“Oh, I believe you.” I laughed.

         “Wanna start walking?”

“Are you going to make me walk ten miles?”

“No, quit your whining.  It’s only a ten minute walk.” He said, punching me in the arm lightly.

“Are Coop and Em coming with us?”

“No, neither of them are home.”  I nodded, watched as Louis put a newly purchased leash on Ollie’s newly purchased collar.

“Did you buy that for Ollie?” I asked, a small smile on my face.
