Farkle drummed his long, nimble fingers along his wooden desk.

"Come on, come on," He uttered pressing his phone harder onto his ear with each second his frustration grew.

Voicemail.

He waited for the too familiar voicemail of Lucas Friar.

"Hey this is Lucas. I can't answer right now but leave your message and I'll get back to you later."

"It's Farkle, again, " He sighed running his hands through his hair exasperated. "Pick up your phone it's important."

He glanced at the clock it was nearly 6:30.

"Actually I'll just see you at the game," He said. "You better be there for me to tell you this."

He hung up and grabbed his equipment bag and donned on his jersey.

"Farkle are you ready to go?" His dad hollered from downstairs.

"Yeah, dad!" He peered down at the copy of forensic analysis he had knicked from his father's office on his desk.

Cassandra Friar drove Lucas to his first game of the season prattling happily about how excited she was to see her son finally on the field.

Lucas nervously looked out at the parking lot as she parked their car.

She stretched her hand to give his shoulder a gentle squeeze.

"You'll do great, honey, " She reassured with an easy grin.

"Thank you, mom." He smiled weakly hopping out of the car.

As soon as he got out of the cat Farkle assaulted him, jumping on him like a scared cat.

"Where have you been?" He screeched dramatically. "I've called several times and you never answered your phone once."

"I went to go see Riley, " He shrugged. "I got sidetracked. "

"Of course, " Farkle scoffed. "Riley it's always Riley."

"Jealous Farkle?" Cassandra teased rounding the back of the car.

"No just concerned, " Farkle huffed.

"Cassandra," Sheriff Minkus smiled as he saw her. "Mind if I accompany you tonight?"

"Not at all," She beamed and they both strolled away towards the bleachers as Farkle and Lucas made a beeline to the locker room.

"Lucas I've got something important to tell you," Farkle told him as they got ready for the game. "Darren was let out. I heard my dad talking about it. They found evidence that indeed it was a wolf that killed her."

"What?" Lucas gasped.

"That's not all," Farkle started but was cut off shortly by Coach H hurrying them outside.

"Tell me later I gotta get out on the field!" Lucas yelled rushing outside.

"Focus Friar." Lucas stretched his body, breathing in and out therapeutically. "Focus. "

Lucas scanned the field the players from the opposite team were all eyeing his team. He searched the crowd for familiar faces. He saw his mom and Sheriff Minkus talking animately. Then his eyes met warm, sparkling brown eyes.

His breath caught in his throat and his heart skipped a beat. She waved at him excitedly, tugging her brown coat to keep herself more covered. She shot him a radiant smile and took her seat next to Josh.

"Just relax," He muttered.
