Little book of horrors

Aka Manto (Japanese urban legend)

(NOTE: All of my stories are based on horror stories and written in my own words. All characters are fictional.)

Gunkanjima school. One of the most horrifying places in Japan. I remember that place so vividly that it seems so impossible to put the memory of such a place from my mind.

The school has closed down now, but let me tell you why to this day I am so petrified even by hearing the name of this school....

My name is Kaname Kagawa and I was a student in Gunkanjima school 2 years ago.

I was in the seventh grade at this school and before all of the horrifying things happened, I was cheerful, bright and I also have to say POPULAR. I had several loyal friends and all the teachers in this school knew and trusted me.

It all started the night of my annual sleepover party. It was a very typical ceremony, popcorn, horror movies etc. I invited my closest friends Meiya, Emi and Gina. We gathered around in the living room and we decided to tell horror stories.

"I know a really good one". Said Meiya, " apparently you can still see this woman and she abducts children."

We were all taken back by her words.

Gina and Emi were eager to listen to the story, so despite the creepy feeling I felt, I wanted to hear the rest of the story.

" There's this woman who always wears a surgical mask and she asks children if she's beautiful. If they say no she'll kill them. If they say yes she removes her mask and reveals A SLIT MOUTH!!!" 

"Meiya, that wasn't funny." Emi moaned.

" I've got a better one". Gina said " and I think this ghost appears at our school".

" you mean Gunkanjima?" I ask

" Well since it's our school, Duh!"

I frowned. 

" okay guys, so there's a demon who hides in the girl's bathroom and if you sit in the last toilet cell to the right, you'll hear a voice ask you " would you like a red cloak or a blue cloak.?" Though, I'm not so sure it's only the last cell, it could be every cell."

" Gina, may I remind you that I go into the bathroom every day at school and some demon doesn't ask me questions on clothes?" Emi said

" No, these are the bathrooms off campus. And let me finish". 

Gina continued the story,

" And if you reply Blue cloak, he'll strangle you to death or until your face turns blue".

" And what about red?"

"Then he'll RIP THE FLESH OFF YOUR BACK! Until you bleed to death. So girls, if you want to survive the Aka Manto, don't use the bathroom off campus.

" But can't you say no cloak or another colour? " I sheepishly ask.

" if you say no cloak or another colour he'll drag you down to hell. But in some stories he'll leave you alone if you say no cloak". 

" Gina, where did you learn this?"

" Kaname, I eavesdropped on a conversation between two teachers."

" Gina, to make sure you're telling the truth, why don't we go and check it out ourselves?

Meiya looked me in the eye " Kaname, you're mad! I don't want some demon asking about my colour preferences!".

" you guys are COWARDS! The Aka Manto is probably just a myth those teachers are using to scare us, it'll be fun!" 

Gina, Emi and Meiya looked at each other. 

" Fine." They all said. They all looked very reluctant, but I didn't care. I wanted to prove them all that they're cowards.

We grabbed our coats and shoes and went out of the house. My parents were away for the week, so no one would care if I left the house.

We made our way to the school. The place looked so deserted, if you come to think of it.

We finally made our way into the bathroom. 

" so Gina, are you willing to use the haunted toilet cell first? "

" No way! I'll do it if you'll all go in toilet cells and wait" 

" okay then miss coward, it's a deal." 

Me, Gina, Emi and Meiya locked ourselves in seperate bathroom cells and waited. 

And out of the blue red smoke appeared from the ground. Peculiar, I thought.

Gina was in the cell next to mine. 

" Gina, what's going on?" 

" sshh, it's he who talks to me". 

" Are you possessed or something?"

" No, someone's talking to me".

Then suddenly a voice whispered something to my friend in the Haunted cell

"So Gina, shall it be a RED cloak or a BLUE cloak?"

" It shall be red".

I felt so dumbfounded, the Aka Manto was real. I shivered.

At the sound of Gina's voice saying red, I screamed " No!! Gina are you mad?! Get out of there!"

I heard a limp object fall and I was horrified to find the lifeless and mutilated body of my friend Gina

"No!!!!!!!"

I unlocked the toilet cell and ran out, Emi and Meiya haven't left yet. I opened their cells by kicking them open, only to find Emi and Meiya also dead, they died of shock after seeing what appears to be blood that formed words on the wall.

WHEN I'M FINISHED WITH BUSINESS, I WILL DRAG YOU ALL TO HELL........

A man in a red cloak appeared before my eyes. I screamed and ran out the door. To this day I regret calling my friends cowards and I will always remember them.

Because their ghosts come to me and tell me to do the same thing that killed them..............
