Winry sat for what seemed like an eternity crying, along with her children, in the middle of the desert. "Mommy..." began Maes in a shaky, fragile voice. Winry looked up and wiped her eyes and turned to look behind her to see Maes and Nina with shiny tear-covered faces. "Can we," Maes looked down letting a tear slip out of his eye before he continued, "can we go to Al and Mai's house now?" Winry did her best to make her voice stable before gently responding, "Yeah... I think that's a great idea." Winry began driving and drove for several sad and bitter hours until they came up upon a quaint house near a meadow. "Nina, Maes, we're here," Winry called to her children, opening up her door and stepping out onto the over-grown grass. Alphonse came running out to see Winry and Edward, quickly realizing the tear dried face of Winry and the absence of Edward. Alphonse's happy face faded when his niece and nephew stepped out, looking as sad as he'd ever seen them.
