I stare at the book I was currently reading. Right after my shift yesterdayI was super tired. But I dragged myself to the library and checked out a book about myths in Greek mythology.

I was on Spotify and listening to my relatable playlist.

Hush, don't speak
When you spit your venom, keep it shut I hate it
When you hiss and preach
About your new messiah 'cause your theories catch fire

I caught myself singly along to the tune loudly. I put in my other ear bud and continued to sing in a more hushed tone. I decided I could use a little break from this book. I decided to dance.

I can't find your silver lining
I don't mean to judge
But when you read your speech, it's tiring
Enough is enough

I start to sway my hips, with my eyes stilled closed.

I'm covering my ears like a kid
When your words mean nothing, I go la la la
I'm turning up the volume when you speak
'Cause if my heart can't stop it,
I'll find a way to block it, I go
La la, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
I'll find a way to block it, I go
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na

I put my hand in my ears like I was blocking out noise. This song wasn't the type of music I would usually listen too, but it was so relatable I couldn't resist it.

If our love is running out of time
I won't count the hours, rather be a coward
When our worlds collide
I'm gonna drown you out before I lose my mind

I love how singers can relate to people just by singing a tune and creating lyrics. I wish to do that one day.

I can't find your silver lining
I don't mean to judge
But when you read your speech, it's tiring
Enough is enough

I start to shake my butt getting a little more into it.

I'm covering my ears like a kid
When your words mean nothing, I go la la la
I'm turning up the volume when you speak
'Cause if my heart can't stop it,
I'll find a way to block it, I go
La la, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
I find a way to block it, I go
La la, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
I find a way to block it, oh
La la, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
I find a way to block it, I go
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na,

I, again, put my fingers in my ears like I'm blocking a noise out.

I'm covering my ears like a kid
When your words mean nothing, I go la la la
I'm turning up the volume when you speak
'Cause if my heart can't stop it,
I'll find a way to block it, I go

I'm covering my ears like a kid
When your words mean nothing, I go la la la
I'm turning up the volume when you speak
'Cause if my heart can't stop it,
I'll find a way to block it, I go
La la, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na
La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na

The last note plays and the song ends. I open my eyes and turn around to finish reading my book. Instead of the emptiness of the store instead my eyes meet chocolate brown orbs.

I took out my earbuds and felt my face heating up. I then looked at Carrie and noticed her face was completely red.

"I-I'm sorry." I say and look at my new shoes. All of my bills were payed and I though why not treat myself?

"I-I-I-It's my fault." Carrie mumbled. "You have a great voice."

"Thanks." I say and felt my face heating up even more.

She then noticed the book and skins over the title. "Who's you're favorite God/goddess?" She asked her eyes instantly became bright.

"Apollo, he is the God of music."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"But he's an idiot." She says. I then realized this was our first proper conversation without her being shy.

"Okay, fine. Who's your favorite God/goddess?"

"Eros."

"Why?"

"He is the god of desire and affection." She said. "Two things I don't have in my life." She mumbled.

She placed the same flower on the counter as she does everyday.

"Just a question." I say as I get her change. "Why do you always get this flower?"

"Maybe I'll tell you one day. But that day isn't today." She said with a sad smile. I nod my head respecting her privacy.

"Understood. Have a good day." I say and watch her walk out the door. For some reason I have this smile on my face, but I can't wipe it off.
