Ever since you were little you always hated hospitals. Mainly because that's where your dad died. They claimed that he would be okay, but that's not the way it ended. Being there was just, depressing. Your mom chokes up while explaining to the nurse what happened. The nurse takes you both into a room. You get into the gown and lay there. Your mom finally speaks up. "We'll have to talk about this sometime." "Yes I know I just don't want to." Your conversation is cut off as the nurse returns to check on you. You explain that you're fine and she leaves. The room is once again silent. " I'm sorry", you start to explain. " I should have came to you, just ever since dad left you, you've been upset. I didn't want to bother you." Your mom looks at you with a far away look. "Honey I'd rather talk to you about things than see you hurt yourself so badly that you're ashamed." The conversation fades from that as you soak in those words. "Mom, what I have done is devastating. It hurts, not only me, but everyone around me. I am not ashamed though. These scars show me how far I've come. How close to killing myself I was, but deciding to cut and hold on a little longer. Yes, it may have been a bad decision, but I'm still alive." Your mom is blown away by your perspective of all this. With that, the talking is halted. The discharge nurse enters the room after knocking softly. "Well we took care of the cut. You hit a minor vein. You were lucky. As soon as you're ready, you can come with me to sign you out."
