"Wow that's so pretty!" I exclaimed as Vanessa, Ashley and Victoria showed me one of their main hang out spots by a beautiful lake.
"My house is by there too," Vanessa said.
"You have a lake house?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, Ness's house is gorgeous," Victoria cooed.
Wow these girls must've been rich. I mean they had nice clothes, gorgeous lake houses, Victoria had a fancy car and Ashley's dad was the boss of a popular restaurant by the beach. I wasn't extremely wealthy, but not poor either. My parents bought me what I needed and I was fine with that.
"So you must have like a boyfriend back in Canada right?" Ashley said lighting a cigarette.
She must've noticed my expression when I saw her pull out the lighter because she said, "I only do it occasionally," and winked.
"Oh um that's cool. Yeah no I actually never had a boyfriend," I said shyly.
"What?" Victoria and Vanessa asked shocked.
Wow they probably thought I was a complete loser who couldn't get a guy. The thing was, that I was always shy and kept to myself back in Canada. I guess maybe if I was a bit more open then I could've had a boyfriend. I actually wanted one too. But I had trouble letting people in. I'm sure these girls had tons of guys all over them. Great.
"Wow I'm surprised, I mean you're really pretty," Ashley said.
"I'm not at all but thanks," I said flattered. I've been called pretty before, and I guess I wasn't ugly but I never really thought of myself as gorgeous. "So is if just you three?"
"You three what?" Vanessa asked raising a perfectly plucked brow.
"Oh I mean you three like your little um, group," I stuttered.
"Well there's our friend Demi too," Victoria started. "But she's away so she won't be back till the end of the summer."
"We're a tight group," Vanessa said which made me feel slightly uncomfortable. These girls had probably known each other for years, why did they want to hang out with someone... average like me?
"Fuck look who's here," Ashley muttered. We all turned our heads to follow her gaze. I saw a group of guys all wearing matching letterman jackets riding motorcycles. I counted five of them.
"Who are they?" I asked not taking my eyes off them.
"Just a group of guys who think they run this town," Ashley spat.
"Well they kinda do," Victoria muttered. Ashley and Vanessa glared at her. "What? I mean come on, nobody says no to them."
"Doesn't mean they run the fucking town," Vanessa said. I watched as they took of their helmets and parked their motorcycles.
"Come on we should go," Victoria said tugging at my arm. That's when one of them caught my eye. He had a dark quiff and dark eyes. Definitely looked like the bad boy type. He was hot too. He turned his head and saw me staring. I couldn't look away. His eyes stared into mine for a bit when a smirk spread across his perfect face.
I turned around quickly and let Victoria pull me to where our cars were parked.

I woke up to my phone ringing.
"Hello?" I said groggily not even checking who the caller was.
"Selena guess what! You got the job!" Ashley exclaimed.
"What?" I exclaimed fully awake now.
"Yep, my dad was going to call you, but since you and me are friends now I told him to let me call you. But is it okay if you come down like today?"
I was beaming inside. Not only had Ashley just called me her friend, but I gotten a summer job.
"Of course! I can come down now!"
"Really? Awesome, it's just me right now, but Vanessa and Vic will probably come later."
"Sure see you soon," I said before quickly hanging up.
I rushed and threw on some clothes before going to the bathroom to brush my teeth and add a bit of light makeup on.
"Mom! I got the job!" I squealed.
"Oh honey that's amazing congratulations!" She hugged me. "When does it start?"
"Now!" I exclaimed.
"Now?!" She asked shocked.
"Yes now, I have to go bye," I gave her a quick kiss before rushing out to the car. I heard her call something out but didn't turn around to stop.

An hour later I was serving tables at the restaurant.
"So how do you like the job so far?" Ashley kept asking me.
"It's amazing, thank you so much."
"Oh yeah no problem, wow that ugly apron actually looks really good on you," she chuckled.
I laughed. "Okay, I have to get back to work but my shift finishes in twenty."
She nodded and went outside.
I glanced at the door and saw another costumer walk in. I could only see the back of him.
"Can I get you anything?" I asked him as I pulled out my notepad to take down his order. "You can take a seat if you'd like?"
"I'll have you," he chuckled. I looked up in shock to see the guy from the beach, the one with the quiff smirking at me.
"Um, oh, um..." I just stood there dumbfounded. God damn it Selena why are you so stupid around hot guys?
He chuckled again. "I'm joking I'll have 3 bottles of beer please." He flashed me a perfect smile.
"You don't look over the age of 21 though." I said.
He leaned forward. "And?"
"And, unless you show me some ID I can't get you the beer."
"Oh, I think you can sweetheart."
"Bye," I muttered rolling my eyes.
He grabbed my waist and whirled me around then leaned forward so our lips were almost touching. "Listen here, you're probably new here so you probably don't know the rules."
I shrugged. "I don't. Sorry."
"Well, I run this town and nobody, and I mean nobody says no to me."
"Well I just did. What are you going to do about it?" I smirked trying to show him that I wasn't afraid of him even though I was.
"Um hey Zayn," I turned around to find Ashley walking in the store with a shocked expression.
"You better tell your new hot, but stubborn friend to get me my beer bef-"
He thought I was hot? I blushed. Ashley quickly cut him off before he could finish his threat. "Look Selena just get him his damn beer so he could get out of our faces."
"Fine," I said glaring at Zayn.
I turned around and got him the three bottles he asked for.
"That'll be-"
"Oh no. I don't pay," he smirked then walked off.
I gasped. "Ashley what the fuck why didn't you do anything about that jerk?"
"Just let him be Selena. Look your shift is almost over so let's just go down to the beach to relax. Vic and Nessa will meet us there."
"Fine," I huffed.
