SHE contemplated posting it for a while. she had written out the caption on a blank image, as though to attract attention to this specific post since she had never once before posted a blank image. she knew the dangers that would come with posting it, but she didn't think there would be much harm if she only added back a few people.
she was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't realise how close her finger was to sharing the photo. she decided that it was pointless in being in an battle with herself and she decided that sharing the photo wouldn't be too bad.
when she clicked the share button and the photo was posted, she got nervous. a few people had liked her photo and three people had added her on snapchat.
she sat for a minute and let her followers do their thing. after two minutes of uploading the picture, she decided to take it down, so that it wasn't permanently on her page.
after she closed her instagram, kayla made herself a cup of coffee and sat on her sofa with her phone. she opened up snapchat and went through the messages she had been sent. all of them were sweet, talking about how much they loved her photography, but there was one it particular which caught her eye.
HE had just made himself a sandwich for lunch and was about to eat it when he heard his phone ping. he had her instagram post notifications on and he saw that she had posted a blank image, which he liked before going on to read the caption. as soon as he saw her snapchat, he wrote it on his hand and screenshotted the caption before opening his own snapchat and adding her.
he didn't send her a picture or video, but instead sent her a message. he mentioned how much he loved her photography but also the fact that she seemed like a genuinely nice person and that he would love to get to know her.
once he had hit send, he said a small prayer and sat down in front of his tv to eat his sandwich.
SHE saw that only one person out of the people who had sent her something had sent a message. she opened it and read it and her heart soared with joy at the kind words.
"hi kayla. my name is scott and i saw that you put your snapchat on instagram. i wanted to tell you that i think your photography is absolutely extraordinary and i think you're a very sweet person, who i would love to get to know."
kayla decided that it would be best for her to reply to scott and not ignore him to be generalised in her snapchat story. she started typing a message but thought that a video would probably be better.
"hi scott, it's kayla. i wanted to tell you that i really appreciate your message and i think that it's really sweet of you to take-"
the ten second limit on videos ended before kayla could finish what she was going to say, so she sent what she had done and started recording another to finish what she was saying.
HE had just finished his sandwich and washed the dishes he used, when he heard his phone ping from the living room. he went over to check who it was and saw a snapchat notification from "my kayla 💖". he excitedly opened the notification that said "my kayla 💖is typing..." only to see that the chat was blank after his message.
scott was slightly disappointed for no more than a minute when he got a video notification from kayla. he opened the video message and watched the whole thing. scott felt on top of the moon after hearing her voice but was upset when it had cut off. he was about to replay the video but another two had come through and he decided on watching the next one before replaying any.
"sorry it cut off at the end there but i was saying that it's so sweet of you to take the time-"
"-out to write me such a sweet message and you seem like a really nice guy who i would-"
SHE didn't want to hassle him with another video so she sent him just a message instead.
"love to get to know better."
