"In Memory..."

In Memory...

I seek my childhood...
like a lost picture
or rather, it seeks me.

Is it because I'm older now?
For I've seen troubled times
Fear interspersed with hope.

The memory resonates...
pounding at my temples.

I was there.

I remember that look...
Your laughter and your wit
Your sweet, tender heart

I was there.

I remember the way your hands moved...
The melody from your flute
That still strikes a bittersweet chord in me

I was there.

I remember holding you...
as your eyes smiled at me
Telling me to be brave

I was there.

I remember what you said...
As you bade goodbye
Words planted within the dark corridors
Of my grief

"I'll come back for you"

I'd like to forget
Rinse it off my mind
But I can't.

I was there.

For years I've waited
To see you again
But I'm still here
And worlds remain between us

So I keep believing
As I cling to the memory of you
That someday
You'll find me again

I miss you...
My best friend,
The sister of my heart
