"It has been a while hasn't it? How long? A few weeks? Months?" I wonder as my hand reaches up to cover up, in vain, the blinding sun. Normally, the surrounding beach land would thrill me; but as of now, I can't enjoy anything. Not without him.
"There you are Sam, I've been looking for you," a faint British voice calls for me and I turn to look. A man wearing a red tee and messy auburn hair greeted me with a solemn look. "I... Heard about... Taurtis... I'm sorry man." I grimace at the name, and look away; Grian must have gotten the hint of my dismay at the mention, as he let it go and let the silence hit us harder than the truth. "You up for some gamecrab to ease you?"
"No... But... Maybe you can..."
"I am not going to dress up like him again, no way." I was interrupted quick before my words could form the question he knew I was about to ask. The thing is, this time, I really do need him to fill that void. I was so ready to... Ready to tell him... The truth... And now... "Sam?" I look over to Grian, uncomfortable with my silence.
"Yea man? Sorry, just thinking about what we should do about that Jerry guy."
"You mean Jason?" Grian interjects with a sigh, I roll my eyes and finally get to my feet. Time flew as I sat by the bay of the beach we once shared. Nice memories of us enjoying the sun... The three of us. And even though we were warned never to return, my dumb mind decided to ignore the warnings; and he paid the ultimate price.
"Let's go..." I mumble, stuffing my hands into my pocket and walking forward not giving Grian a moment to think and just follow. "Hey, why don't we pay Ókami a visit? I'm sure she has something for us." A drink would be lovely right now, one like the one she gave us back in Christmas when Grian was here. And...
"Sam, cut it, you don't need it," once again the down to earth guy has to intervene. I growl and turn to him.
"Shut up! You don't know what I need! Where were you when I thought Taurtis died during the clone incident! Where were you when the professor took his hair sample! You think you're so better than anyone, you treat me like a child and act all high and mighty because you have skills. Well... You aren't! You're bland and no one likes you!" I let it all out, and immediately I regret it. "... I-I'm sorry... I" Grian rose a hand to silence me, he smiled and gestured for me to get closer to him. Doing so, he pulled me into his arms.
"I know you are hurting, but fighting won't bring him back. I know I wasn't there when you thought he died, I know I wasn't there when teacher geode was doing crazy things to him, believe me, if he had some sort of contraption that could bring him back I would... It's just" wait a minute...
"Say that again?" I stop him blinking.
"I know you are hurting?" He raises a brow.
"the other thing," I reply
"I'm sorry about geode?"
"That's it! We have to go back to Tokyo!"
"Wait... What?!"
