Homophobia and Religion

Many people believe that homophobia and religion always go hand in hand but that's not always the case, homophobia can come from anywhere, and from anyone, and it's not just homophobia that's a problem for LGBT people, many even have to deal with things like like bi-phobia, trans-phobia, and even ace-phobia, to name a few, and that's not even getting into the race and culture related component of this issue.
Dealing with people who are religious and homophobic is incredibly difficult, and must be handled appropriately. But we have to remember that not everyone who's religious is homophobic and not everyone who's homophobic is religious, it's one of those square is a rectangle things but rectangles aren't square things. Many of the most tolerant and loving people are religious, and many of the most hate filled are not, so don't always assume that just because a person is Christian or Muslim, or some other "typically" homophobic religion that they're like that too.
Now, getting into to the main issue, dealing with homophobic religious people.
Homophobic religious people will try to tell you that you are an 'abomination' or other shit like that and that 'God hates fags' when there are multiple things wrong with that statement we're only going to discuss a few of them.
1. I was under the impression that God did not hate anybody, us 'fags' included. (I'm really sorry I said fag, it was just for effect, I think that word is incredibly offensive and should never be used)
2. Many of us queers aren't religious (or at least Christian, which seems to be one of the main groups that hates us), so being that we are atheists, agnostics, or someone of a completely different religion that doesn't believe in the Christian God, your God has no effect on me. I don't believe in him, so saying he hates me doesn't effect me in any way. It's like saying the bitchy girl in my fourth period hates me, I hate her too so what does it matter?
Christians who try to fight against us queers with bible verses just need to stop. And not just because it's annoying but like I said in my earlier point most of aren't religious so using verses from a book we don't care about does nothing. Then we have to remember that the bible is extremely contradictory and we can also fight back with bible verses, so they are basically asking for us to find something in their own holy book to disprove their theory. Dear homophobic Christians, if you can find actually evidence that's not complete bs (like the AIDS thing and how it's all our fault when that's not true), please tell me, I would honestly love to know.
Dear queer religious people, you guys are so brave. You probably deal with hate from inside the place where you're supposed to go and worship. Plus, you guys get a bad name from all the crazy assholes out there who are trying to fight you. I'm proud of you guys.
Dear all the queers, you go with you're bad self. Spread love and acceptance like the plague, instead of hatred and intolerance like some people (not naming any names... *cough*cough* homophobes). Remember to love yourself because you are perfect and I love you!
