CHAPTER SIX

Countdown 3 Days

We were supposed to have a lunch at Aaron's house but things went bad after Aaron come to know of the changes that Mother June had instructed Angie to proceed.

"Right after you started a fight, there goes the obedient nodding towards my mother's unreasonable request!" His voice was louder as ever.

I didn't compromise as I debated, "You were the one who walked out on me."

Aaron smirked before staring back at me, "And you decided to take revenge by accepting my mother's absurd request"

"How about you grow some balls and tell her now!" I exclaimed at his accusation.

Aaron widened his eyes at my cursing, "So now you are unhappy with me."

I breathed in deeply, "That's not what I mean"

Aaron nodded as he smirked at my weak protest, "Right, how easy for Ms Miller to insist her innocence"

I shot him an angry glare, "You are being too much"

Aaron argued back, "Save it, the gold digger"

Without hesitation, like a natural reflex, my tears and my hand synchronised so well. The slap on his face caught Aaron by surprise. He stood in silence as he stared blankly of the sudden blow. Then, Aaron turned towards me as he frowned at me.

"Did... you just" Aaron paused before glaring at me, "-slap me?"

I breathed in deeply as I realised the damage I have caused. Everything just went wrong. I wasn't sorry to be angry at Aaron's insulting remarks of me being a gold digger. It could be an insecurity that bites me. I had been hearing so many people talking about me being the gold digger. And it was unbearable when they stop talking, knowing your presence and gave you despised glares. But I was wrong to get violent even how hurtful those words were.

"I-m..." I stopped to continue. I wanted to apologise for my actions but I wasn't willing to give in yet. I was not going to admit that all of his accusations were true. It will just made me an unreasonable person and I am not.

"So you wanted to say sorry for the slap" Aaron eyed at me.

I bit my lips, "I'm not... sorry"

"Ms. Miller" Aaron started talking in a very formal way, "I hope you are aware that that's not how a Field behave regardless in private or public"

I did not argue but kept my silence in protest.

Then the knock alerted us. We looked to the door before his servant called us, "Sir, the lunch is ready."

"We will come down soon" Aaron assured the servant.

"Yes Sir" The servant acknowledged and left us alone.

Aaron stared at me.

"I want to go home" I insisted.

I was not willing to continue any further conversation with him or his family. The remarks that he had just put was beyond what I could handle. I felt embarrassed at the accusation but every of my actions just make it even more convincing to others.
