I can't say that I felt awkward. Because I did. Everyone stared at me, like I was some kind of experiment gone wrong. Kacie said it was because I was the freshie. I honestly thought it was because of how I looked. Everyone seemed so dead, and I felt like a glow stick in a room filled with candles...that makes sense right?
The teachers weren't that friendly. Well you know for a teacher. They honestly kind of scared me and I was just about ready to scream when I realized one wanted and had the urge to eat me. Talk about cannibalism. I had told Kacie about it and she said don't worry the whole school is a bunch of misfits stuck together like glue.
I don't belong here. It's obvious to everyone and myself. Some people had the guts to ask me why I was here and my reply:
"A delusional mother and pissed off dude, decided that their crazy daughter needed time off from reality."
Some liked that comment and its how I got to meet some of the other people, Like Matthew. He said that his parents were just as dilusional and after some time he was glad that he came here. He liked how things were not normal like everyday life. He also knew Kacie, so...Im not surprised he bothered to talk to me.
I did however enjoy the lunch. Normal food...thank god. Well, if you think about it, its as normal as food gets, I mean you can't really change food...right?
Kacie also introduced me to her other friends, who were not as weird as her. For example, Jordan and Lola, they were weird, but not oh my god she is weird sort of thing.
I don't understand this place. Its really just a normal school. Except for what happened to me this morning, that was odd, and I havent seen that girl since then.
Me and Kacie were walking down the hallway, to who knows where, Kacie said she was taking me somewhere she likes to hang out at.
"So what's the real reason your in here?" She asked. I sighed.
"Too be honest, I have no idea, They say its because I have suicidal thoughts. They think its my art. I mean its not my fault that when I look onto paper I see dead people or dying people. Its not my fault that its so clear to me that I can draw them like that."
Kacie looks at me and with a confused face she says
"So you draw people that are dead and or dying."
I nodded.
"I know it sounds stupid and I dont even know who these people are! and the weird thing that is the only thing I am good at drawing at, everything else Im awful."
She nodded.
"Hmm, how long has this happening?"
I sighed.
"I sound crazy don't I?" She shook her head.
"No, in fact you sound like one of us. No wonder your parents sent you here, you are a missfit just like the rest of us."
"Everyone here doesn't seem like a misfit just different."
She shook her head.
"Answer my previous question and I will show you why we are here."
"Alright, I have been drawing these things, since I began to hear the voices, which was since I was five."
"Voices?"
"Well, voice. I hear a man singing, I think its my dad...because I never met him or anything, and he reacts when I say dad...and yea.."
She nodded.
"Um your turn."
"Right. I can see how a person will die, via touch of course."
I looked at her.
"Your kidding me." I stated. She shook her head.
"Of course, you can't change how you will die, so I can tell you when, where, how, and why."
I nodded.
"Hmm, do you know your own death."
She nodded.
"How will you die?" I asked her.
"I will die in the dark, somewhere, trying to see outside a window, that seems to be on the top of a building, I know I was bleeding to death because I could smell blood and I could move every part of my body, and I know someone had hurt me."
I nodded.
there was a slight moment of pause when she continued.
"We all have special gifts here. Like Matt, he can... oh jeez how do I explain it.. he can get into your mind, and make you realive your own worst fear without you moving. Say like your afraid of heights, he can get into your mind and make you think your so high up that if you move one inch you will fall and die."
"Wow."
"Yea, and Lola and Jordan are vampires that can manpulate the elements but they mostly stick to the shadows, and if you look closely enough Lola is blind."
That made me stop in my steps.
"Wow." I whisper. She nodded and we continued to walk.
"Theres a lot to know about this place." She said as we stopped at two wide doors.
She opened one of them and said
"This is a lounge where I like to chill." She said gesturing to the wide, open plan. The color scheme was black and white and the feel was quite cozy. We sat on the couch that was nearest to three book shelves as Kacie continued her speech.
"Those bookcases hold the history of this school, and beyond that, this place is usually packed when it comes to projects and what not, so don't be surprised if you see a lot of people in here anyway. This place is awesome for homework, studying, reading, whatever because its dispatched from the other buildings so its completely sound proof."
I nodded looking around the place, it sure was nice, with the high sun roofs, and the windows that were wide enough for us to see outside but for no one to see from the outside lookin inward.
"Its certainly a nice place here."
I said looking around.
"Oh yea, and sometimes theres small parties in here, but you know its mostly for nerds like us. Or people who just want to hide. Like us."
There was a pause.
"You seem to be okay with this. Knowing your not alone with weird abilities like the rest of us."
"Yea, Its probably because knowing I am not the only specially challenged one, thats good to know, and Ive always wanted to have some adventure in my lame life."
"Well honey you just found the capital of adventure and weirdness."
