I opened the door and –go figure- saw no one there. I sighed as started to close the door only to have it stop. I looked down to see a note on the floor. I picked it up and flipped it over a couple of times. I sighed as I closed the door.

“Oh! Amy’s got a letter.” Kacie said she clapped her hands.

“Its not just for me, its for all three of us.”

“Well what does it say.”

I looked it over and said

“It doesn’t say anything. It’s a drawing.” I turned the drawing over to reveal three black looking blobs with white masks. The masks held no design, and stood there, with their own shadows. We all stared at them and after an awkward pause Matt spoke up.

“Is that suppose to be us?”

I shrugged and kacie titled her head to the side.

“Well.. then… my guidance councilor said something about pictures like these.”

I looked at her

“We have guidance councilors?”

“Yup. They haven’t given you one yet?”

“Nope. What they said about these things?”

“They are suppose to be representing something.”

“Could it be us?”

Kacie shook her head.

“Too obvious this person obviously wants us to look deeper into something. Something resembling  these … these blobs.”

I looked over the picture for either a signature or some kind of hint as to what the artist could have been but no such luck.

“Is there someone in the school that’s good at drawing?”

“Besides you, nope.” Kacie said Matthew shook his head.

“Hmph.” I said thinking.

We stared at it for a few more minutes until an idea hit me.

“What if it means something like the shadows. Like you know… the voices or something.”

The only reason I thought of it because it just seemed to fit, I mean voices belong to bodies right and who knows…those bodies could just be figure bodies made out of shadowness or something. I looked at the paper again and saw that those blobs  had shadows themselves and then it really did fit in.

“Yea! Like the whole, uh, Shadows looking into us sort of thing, watching us as if we were the shadows.” Kacie said as she finally understood what was going on with the picture.

“But why would anyone give us this picture, they have already helped us and we know that they are not that bad.”

“Because they have seen everything! Who knows how long these voices been around or who knows if they could be something like this photo. So they might have more knowledge as to whats going on and whats going to happen.”  Kacie said explaining everything to matt.

He nodded finally letting it all sink in as he stared at the picture.

“Hmm. There is something fishy happening here.” He muttered as he stood up. We both stared at him and again the same thought ran through our minds, how long have you been out of it?

I shook my head at him and we both watched as he left.

“Oh, you missed the handout but don’t worry I got you one.” Kacie said as she took out a neon pink piece of paper.

“Around winter time, this place gets Chaotic with disease so we are all given booster shots. Its weird because, you know we are these incredibly weird looking and aggressive and yet comes the winter time and we all just get shot down.”

I laughed.

“Don’t worry about it. Its just a shot. Nothing will end up killing us.”

“I hate needles.” Kacie muttered.

I read over the paper which stated in bold print.

Its that time of year again!!

Students,

It’s the time of year we all dread. Winter. To make sure that no one gets sick and to keep the craziness of the witner away, we are all giving you your free shots. That’s right, no more having to wait months of getting your shot, starting tommorow, you will all be getting shots… and it will continue through out the week.

I looked away from the paper and asked.

“Somethings telling me this isn’t going to end well.”

Kacie snorted.

“Don’t be a baby.”

“Says the girl who hates needles.”

“Shut up.”

We saw people walking down the hallway and we both knew that it was time for dinner, so without further adue we both left and headed to the cafeteria to get dinner and to hopefully find wherever Matt went off to.
