When Kylo stepped into Isobel's glorified broom closet of a holding cell on the Finalizer, she seemed less enraged than she had earlier that day. Actually, she was far from enraged, she was on the very edge of being exuberant. He saw why: to her delight, Q4-R8 was rolling around her, babbling on in binary so quickly at times that Kylo couldn't understand a thing the droid said. She humphed at the droid a few times.
"Really? And just how efficient was this J1 unit?" She sensed Kylo's presence, looking up just as he came in before her eyes were twinkling at Cuefore again, like a mother watching her child. Ren was surprised and grateful that she didn't seem angered at him anymore, nor was he going to bring up the topic of her attempted interrogation. He didn't exactly feel like dying that day.
It was a moment or so after she acknowledged his presence that she spoke to him. The room had gone quiet, save for the buzzing of machinery and Cue beeping as she tended to his optic.
"Kylo Ren."
"Grey One." She smiled and looked up again as the droid scurried around behind her, her teeth shining in the harsh electric light.
"Mastel tøy – A thousand thanks – to you for taking care of Cuefore." Kylo was surprised to hear her speak in a language other than basic, although he knew she understood binary. Hearing her without her light Coruscanti accent was odd. "He was just telling me about how someone in black ordered him a nice, long oil bath. Is that him, Q?" The droid beeped affirmatively. Kylo sniffed in distaste at the hyperactive droid, and Cuefore rubbed his-still-dirty optic on Isobel's knee in fear. Isobel either did not notice this or did not mention it. "I really must thank you for this, baths for him are rare and he is always giddy after we have him get one." And we're not even in Coronet and the bath felt so good and there were so many other astromech units and it was so much fun to speak with other droids! Cue beeped up at her so fast that Kylo had not been able to keep up with his hyperactive beeping. Isobel chuckled at that, and relayed a quick translation to Ren. "Excuse him and his excitement. Apparently, he's been very thrilled and it takes him a little bit to calm down after excitement. You should have seen him after we destroyed your trade route last month, he beeped like that for such a long time that I had to bypass his communication modulator to get him to shut up." Cuefore beeped up at her to express his annoyance with that particular action. Ren's usual scowl deepened behind his mask.
"So that was you; I suspected as much."
"Mmm, I knew you'd suspect me. There was lightsaber damage to so many of the consoles in that control room, you would have been a fool not to." Ren scoffed.
"Yes, how did you even do that, especially without encountering anyone? No one was killed in that attack." She brushed herself off and stood.
"Cue kept watch. He's a droid, nobody ever notices them. I snuck into a heating ducts and pushed myself down the shaft with the lightsaber ignited, made a couple of passes at it, and then killed the terminals on the floor below while there were all on the third floor looking for me. I'm not going to tell you how I got out, it wasn't pleasant.
