You stop and turn, heart beating.
"Everything all right babe?" Van asks.
"Mary!" The deep voice of your ex, Matt, greets you. He was tall, his build strong and his black hair shaven short.
"Matthew." You mutter.
"Is that how you greet an old friend!" He pats your shoulder.
"You're not my friend." You say.
"But we're best mates!" He puts his hands on your shoulders.
"Don't fucking touch her." Van pulls you out of Matthew's grip and signals that you should keep walking.
"And who are you mate?" Matthew growls.
"First of all, I'm not your mate." Says Van, his expression dark. "And I'm her boyfriend."
"Wouldn't think 'yer were a lad with hair like that!" He laughs towering over Van.
"Look mate, why don't you just fuck off and leave us to it?" Van pulls you away and continues to walk you to the restaurant.
"Who was that?" He asks, as he pulls out a chair for you.
"That charming chap was my ex Matthew." You sigh. "He was a dealer, probably still is, he got me hooked on stuff, it got me into quite a bit of trouble."
"Is that why you were hesitant to smoke with me under the bridge?" He asks.
"Yeah, yeah it was."
"I'm guessing he's not over you?"
"I thought he would be, after sleeping with that bitch."
"Oh Mary, I'm so sorry he did that to you!"
"Don't be, because if he didn't I wouldn't be with you." You lean over the table and press a kiss to his lips.
"I love you." He whispers.
"I love you too."

Two steaming hot plates are placed on the table. You ordered a asparagus risotto while Van got a roast pork. A tall glass of champagne accompanied each meal.
"A toast, to us!" Van says, raising his glass.
"To us!" You giggle, the bubbles from the champagne filling your mouth.
"I'm so happy I met you..." He whispers, eyes gleaming.
"Me too Van, me too."

After Dinner you walk around the town, admiring the local art, giggling at the street performers. The streets were busy with party-goers and black cabs. A misty rain starts, soaking you through within minutes.
"I think we should head back," Van whispers, lacing his fingers with yours.
You run through the hustle and bustle of the nighttime, the wind in your hair, laughing your head off. Strangers scowled at you, a look of disapproval etched on their faces. At last you make it back to the hotel and you collapse onto the bed.
"I'll run us a bath eh?" Van says, slipping off his shoes.
"That is an excellent idea." You whisper, catching your breath still.
The sound of running water fills the room along with a lovely floral scent. After a few minutes the bath was done and Van escorts you into the bathroom. You both undress and slip into the water, it's warmth engulfing you. A thick layer of bubbles floated on the surface. "It's perfect." You say, sitting on his lap.
"Thought you'd like it." He smirks, snaking his arms around your waist. "And I'm so impatient when you're not mine,
I just wanna catch up on all the lost times,
And I'll say sorry if I sound sordid,
'Cause all I ever want is you..." He sings, he voice filling the room. You lean back and close your eyes. Van brushes back your hair and places a gentle kiss on your neck before continuing to sing.
"Hold my hand,
I'll take your name,
Share my shower,
Kiss my frame,
''Cause I wanna carry all of your children,
And I wanna call 'em stupid shit."
"That was beautiful!" You smile, turning around to face him. "I love it when you sing to me."
"Glad you enjoy it." He smiles and presses his lips to yours, kissing you softly. You kiss him back, you put your hands on his face.
"I love you-so fucking-much" You say between kisses.
"I-love-you-too." He replies, a smile plays on his lips. You stop and cuddle him, his scent filling your nostrils. Your eyes close and you doze. You wake to Van softly shaking you.
"Babe, c'mon let's get you to bed."
"Ugh, nooo, I just wanna lie here with you!" You groan, tightly wrapping yourself around him.
"Fine!" He laughs, cocooning around your shoulders.

The early morning light comes through gaps in the drapes in streams. Birds out side are chirping and you're cuddled into Van.
'I could get used to waking up like this,' You smile to yourself. Van stirs, his mop of hair covering his eyes.
"Morning babe," You whisper to him.
"Morning love," He smiles, wiping sleep out of his eyes. "Fancy going out for breakfast?"
"That'd be lovely!" You smile, giving him a kiss.
"Well lets get ready then!" He says jumping up startling you.
"Never before have I seen you so eager to get up!" You giggle.
"Well, when it involves showing you off, of course I'll be eager!" He exclaims, pulling on his staple black skinny jeans.
"Of course." You say, shaking your head.
