-First chapter of Find Your voice here, please read. I know the beggining of my books always suck, cause I hate introductions. And im also really bad at them, but i promise it gets better as your read on :) this story is co-written by @_bravery :) Enjoy
I sat on my bed. Wearing a white tank top and a pair of baggy grey sweats. My purple hair was natural, drying into waves as I had just gotten out of the shower.
I strummed through a G chord on my guitar. Writing it down along with the rest of the chords I had put down to go with the lyrics.
There was a soft knock on my door. "Come in." I called. Going back to writing out lyrics.
My mother came in, bringing me a cup of green tea. In my favourite One Direction mug. "Here you go babe. It's to keep your throat warm so you don't hurt your vocal chords or something."
"Thanks mom." I smiled, taking the mug and taking a sip. Setting the cup down on my side table. My mom sifted through the sheets of writing and music spread around the bed. She smiled at some of the work.
"Have you been working on any piano music at all?" She asked. Looking over my shoulder at the music in front of me. Brushing her fingers through my hair.
"Not really. I've been focusing on more lyrics and stuff."
"Well, do you have any songs finished?"
"Yes ma'am. Did you want to hear one?" I asked. Looking up at her.
"No that's alright. I was just curious." She smiled down at me. Getting up from my bed and going over to the door. "Now get some rest. Tomrrow is a big day!"
"Why? What's happening tomorrow?"
"Oh, oh nothing. Just, we've got plans." She smiled then left me alone in my room. "Get some sleep!" she called from down the hall.
I sighed. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow night.
I walked downstairs to the music room, where we have our keyboard, our piano, other than my star acoustic, my guitars (I have four) and my kareokee machine that I got when I first became interested in singing. Jeez. That thing was drowning in dust.
I opened the bench of the piano and grabbed a book full of sheet music that I had printed, and sat down to play 'Titanium' by 'Christina Grimmie'. It felt good to play the piano, I've been so focused on my guitar music that I forgot I even had a piano. The notes bounced off the walls and rang through my ears, I really do love the sound of piano.
I closed my eyes when I played the song and held the last note. It was one of my favourote songs to play, and one of the songs I've worked the longest on to be perfect.
My mom stood in the doorway and clapped. "Huh. I thought you said you haven't been working on the piano?" she winked.
"That was my first time in a long time. But it was pretty fantastic though right?"
She smiled "Yes. It's getting pretty late, I think you should go rest soon."
"Alright, love you, night"
She said goodnight and went to her room, crawling in for the night. I stayed in the piano room though. I quickly got up to close the door, hearing the click of the door, I rushed back to the piano bench. I grabbed some paper from the stack that sat beside the piano bench, and layed it across the top. Letting the music flow, I wrote down notes, along with the words that I came up with earlier. Making the song I had before, have three different parts. Piano, guitar, and vocals. I would have to get my dad to play the guitar part tomorrow so I could see how it all sounded.
I was writing out notes when my cell phone buzzed in my pocket. I put my pencil down and took it out. Opening up the text and seeing it was from my friend Troy. He has been my best friend since I was six, and he was nine.
Meet me by the swing in 10 xx
I replied saying I would meet him, just had to make sure the 'rents were asleep.
I turned the light off in the music room and went into the hall, going across to the far corner of the house. I opened my parents room and peaked in. My father was snoring loudly, and my mother reading a book. If I was quiet enough I could make it out.
I closed the door quietly, and creeped over to the stairs, going down them up, and skipping over the creaky third step. I jogged down the hall and into my room, throwing on a beanie and my sweater, I opened my window. The cool night air seeping into my room. I steadied myself on my dresser, kicking my legs up and climbing out of the window.
I crawled out and onto my knees, standing up to brush grass of my sweats, and looked through the window to my parents bedroom to see if the light was on, which it wasn't. I ran through the backyard and tried to quietly open the gate, and then slowly closed it, and ran across the field and jumped off the little 3 foot drop off, dropping down to the river level.
I walked under some of the blooming lilac trees, which by the way, were extremely beautiful. I got to the little stone path , that me and Troy had made a couple months ago. It was cute. I walked along the path that lead to the huge oak tree. The one me and Troy hung a swing off of when I was about 13. I think it definatly suited the whole secenery.
I sat down on the swing, and looked out over the slow moving river, with the sun setting behind it. It was really beautiful here at night.
I swung my legs back and forth, making myself go higher and higher. I dug my heels into the ground, just as the sun set below the horizen. Now I just had to wait for Troy.
