He knows she's crying. He can feel her tears soaking through the collar on his shirt. But he doesn't say anything as she lays her head against his chest, he's holding her closer to him now, like he never wants to let her go. And he doesn't. Slowly they sway from side to side, the movements relaxing her she finds them almost soothing. She's safe with him.

They've been stood holding each other for what feels like hours but in reality is only a matter of minutes, she's reluctant to let go but she knows she has to. As she pulls away and looks up at him, he smiles down at her, her cheeks still wet from crying, he places his hand softly on her cheek to wipe her tears away.

Then she finds the words she's been wanting to say, the words she's been searching for.
"I want to go home Nick, please?"
He doesn't hesitate as he links his fingers through her's, his hands are cold as are her's but she doesn't mind she relishes the skin to skin contact.

They've been walking back for a while now they haven't said a word to each other since they set off, although the silence wasn't awkward. It was never awkward with them.

"Nick?"
He turns his head to look at her, still walking hand in hand slowly back to the car. He's not sure what she's about to say, and he hopes she hasn't changed her mind. Suddenly she stops and looks at him blinking her tears away he knows she desperately trying to hold back.

"I love you to, you know?"
She's not quite sure just saying I love you justifies what she feels for him, but hopes as she looks at him that her eyes can tell him what she just can't put in to words to explain. He chuckles, she loves it when he laughs, he's smiling at her, almost beaming.

"Hey, I know you do, you were just scared that's all and I get it, honestly I do. But you know what I said before? I meant it, we're stronger when we are together"

And she believes him, she doesn't even need him to try and persuade her. She's learnt from past experience and the time they've been together, he doesn't say anything without meaning it and she loves him all the more for it.

They're home now, she's curled into his side her head resting against his chest, he sighs and she feels it, he knows she does, so he pulls her closer and holds her that little bit tighter as her hand gently glides up and down his chest.
Her engagement ring catches the light as she smiles to herself she hasn't noticed Nick has been looking at her the whole time, just watching her, he can't seem to look away. He never can.

She looks up and smiles at him, as she leans in and kisses him, it's soft but meaningful, so she settles back down head still resting against Nicks chest. She's happy. Content even, and she wonders how she could of ever thought she could give this up. Give him up. But she knows now that giving him up isn't even a possibility, she never wants to let him go, and hopes she never has to. They could be happy.
