When Elaine reached the last five steps, that was when she began to really smell the horrid stagnant odour of the place. It smelled like rotten eggs, damp clothes and the smart collection perfume called Lactose - that Anna used. The smell was revolting and it felt as if it was clinging to her clothes. It almost seemed like it was reaching out to her. Beckoning her to come nearer. To fall.
To embrace it and become one with it. She shuddered and brushed off the feeling, then entered the pitch black room.

With the little light from the stairs she was able to make out rows and rows of shelves with jars on them. The jars looked like they had jelly in them mixed with some big blobs of things in them. Each jar was a different colour from the next one.

She gingerly walked on and finally got to a dark narrow corridor and something ran over her legs. She shrieked in shock and kicked it off and ran. After walking down the long winding corridor she finally saw a door with light beneath it. As if on impulse she sluggishly walked to the door like a drunkard. It was as if the sight of the door slowed her brain down. As if, she was slowly sinking in quick sand. As if, the light coming from underneath the door was calling for her to come out of the darkness. It was quite an eerie feeling she thought as she walked slowly towards the door.

The door looked quite normal considering the peculiar and diabolic like surroundings. It had an inscription which said:

"Enter if you dare."

It reminded her of her favorite game called 'temple run', she thought with a wry smile. She knew she had to do this, so she knocked three times with the brass bird-shaped door knocker and waited.

After a few seconds, the door opened by itself with an echoing creak. Her feet involuntarily moved inside the room, and for a moment she was temporarily blinded by the bright light. It was only after her eyes had adjusted, that she saw someone in a black hooded cloak, sitting directly under the insect infested bulb. She wondered why he or she - she wasn't sure of the gender of the person - wasn't even swatting at the insects surrounding him or her.
