"Wow!" Ashleigh exclaimed, "What is this?"
She pointed to a tall cylinder shaped room big enough to fit two or three people inside. Christelle Walked over to her best friend's find. They had been playing and exploring down in the basement. In the front of the small room was a door about three and a half feet tall. Christelle yanked on the door, it didnt budge. She sighed and leaned on the door.
"it's locked" Christelle announced.
"hey Christy, try using the key- it's in the lock" laughed Ashleigh. Christelle's cheeks turned red as she turned the key and pulled in the door, it swung open with no trouble.
The inside of the room looked like a circular elevator. Christelle smirked and steped inside.
"We can play hotel! I will be the elevator operator, you can be a guest who is using the elevator."
Ashleigh stepped inside and Christelle reached across her to close the door. The *elevator* had four floors and Ashleigh lived on the fourth floor. Christelle pushed the button labeled *4* on the elevator's control panel.
Suddenly, the two girls could feel the room starting to move. When the motion finally stopped, Ashleigh slowly pulled the door open. Nothing looked out of the ordinary, so they exited the elevator. Ashleigh reached out to grab a water bottle that she had placed on the table that Christelle's father used as a workbench. Before her hand was even a foot from the bottle, it suddenly rose off the table and floated towards Ashleigh. She dropped her hand down to her side, and the water bottle began to fall. The bottle hit the ground with a soft "thud".
"H-how did you do that?" Christelle asked.
"I don't know," replied Ashleigh, "really!"
A long silence passed between the two girls that was broken by the sound of a door opening and Chistelle's mother calling, "Hey, Christy, where are you?" within moments, the girls remembered the warning Christelle's father had said before leaving- "Girls, just remember, dint go into the basement."
Christelle felt Ashleigh's hand on her shoulder and she found herself wishing she was upstairs, where she was supposed to be. She closed her eyes for a moment and when she opened them, she was terrified to find herself and Ashleigh upstairs in in her room. Ashleigh stared a Christelle as if she was a six-legged dog. Christy's mom poked her head into the room, "Hey Girlies, why didn't you answer when I called?" she questioned.
"Sorry mom, didn't hear you." Christelle replied timidly.
" yeah, right" her mom said sarcastically, but she did not question the girls any further; instead she walked out, closing the door behind her.
The two girls waited for a couple of minutes before they finally spoke. It was Ashleigh that broke the silence, stuttering "umm... Christy, do you think this is a dream?"
"No, I don't," Christelle stated quite plainly. "what happened back there?" she asked.
Ashleigh shock her head in confusion. "I don't know, one moment we were in the basement, you closed your eyes," said Ashleigh, "then everything started to fade and the next thing I know, we're here!"
"that thing with the water bottle- do you think you could do it again?" Christy interrogated.
"um... I guess it wouldn't hurt to try, would it?" Ashleigh said timidly. So she reached out her hand toward a porcelain doll on a shelf nearly six feet above the ground. Even before her hand was fully raised, the delicate doll began to slowly rise off the shelf. When the doll was five feet from the ground, Christelle said, "Wait, I want to try something. Be ready if it doesn't work."
Christy motioned for Ashleigh to release the doll. Ashleigh slowly let her hand down, the doll immediately dropped. Just before the doll hit the ground Christelle vaporized reappearing beside the doll, she caught it inches from the ground.
After that, Ashleigh called her parents and received permission to spend the night and have Chistelle's parents take her to school in the morning. So, the rest of the night went without incident, except when Christelle accidentally teleported to the downstairs bathroom while trying to get to the kitchen for a glass of water.
