I take a sip out of my coffee the waitress had given me. It's hot but it taste just right. Just the right amount of sugar and creamer. I take a donut and bite into it an I feel joy. It just melts against my tongue and on the roof of my mouth. I close my eyes and smile.
"I know right. These are great," Hayden says laughing. He has already eaten half of his first donut. His coffee is still sitting where the waitress sat it down.
"Yeah, this donut is amazing. They also made my coffee just right. I'm very impressed with this place as usual." I say with donut in my mouth.
Hayden swallows his donut and takes a drink of his coffee. Hayden is a bad boy. I know, you think this is gonna be like every other love story but he isn't a bad guy he just likes leather, black, piercings, and tattoos. My mother hates his piercings and the one tattoo he has. He is quiet in school but with me he never has been. He's actually quiet loud.
I finish my donut and move into my second one. Hayden has already drank all his coffee and has one bite left of his donut. The last bite he shoves in his move and chews. His jaw works hard and it's moving fast.
"What are you staring at?" I shake my head back into focus. Hayden was staring me dead on.
"What?" I say.
"You were staring at me hard core Shay," Hayden replies.
"Oh, sorry,"
"Is it because you want me? You want me don't you?" Hayden starts shaking his eyebrows all crazy and sticks his tongue out. I laugh and it makes my choke on my donut. Because I choked I laughed harder and then I spit donut all over the table. Hayden was taking a drink of my coffee when I spit donut so he bust out laughing and spit coffee on the table. We both start laughing hysterically until we are crying. Someone taps my shoulder and I look up and see a very big man.
"I'm going to ask you to clean this up and leave my cafe," the man says angrily. I see his identification tag. It says management. Hayden wipes up the mess and we both stand to leave. The man walks us out of the donut shop and slams the door behind us.
We both bark out laughter and double over. Tears fall out of my eyes because I'm laughing so hard and Hayden is wheezing. We stand and then start walking to the car. Hayden opens my door an lays his hand on my lower back. I sit in the car and watch him close the door. I wipe my eyes and watch him get in the car.
"We were just kicked out of a donut shop," I say smiling. Hayden looks at me with a huge grin on his face. He watches me closely and he lays his hand in mine. My stomach flips and I move my hand to wrap my fingers around his but he moves his hand away. I pull my hand back slowly.
"Yes we were just kicked out of a donut shop. You want me to take you back home?" He puts the key in the engine and starts the car. "Or would you like to come to my house?"
"I wanna go to your house. I don't wanna go home," I say.
"Why don't you wanna go home?"
"Mom was just being really hateful towards me and it just upsetted me. I just wish she would treat me better sometimes." I look down and Hayden puts his hand on my chin and lifts my head up.
"Shay, I hate the way she treats you. You don't deserve that and never have. I promise I'll never treat you like that. I promise Shay Lynn," he throws in my middle name and I know he's being serious. That's what he does when he is being completely honest.
