I look up in a panic at the gargantuan Hogwarts Express, fumbling to get a grip on my unnecessarily large trunk as I break off in a sprint towards the train making its final boarding calls. I pick up my pace as the train starts to move and pull out my wand, performing a sloppy yet effective levitation charm to place my bags onto one of the ledges. The train picks up speed and I launch myself in its direction unaware of the swarm of people gathering around windows with bated breath to watch this 'poor girl risking her life for education'. With the train slowly etching away from me, I reach out a cold sensation soon running through my hand as I enclose my palm around the metal handle to one of the train's multiple entrances. Using both my strength and the force from the wind I swing myself toward the already opened door, landing with a thud.

"That was bloody brilliant!" a boy exclaims his voice loud and clear, unlike the rest of the mumbled, inaudible and frankly incomprehensible dialogues happening around me. I push myself to my feet and am met with a pair of blue eyes, I scan the boy's face and notice him taking every detail of my face.

"You're new, aren't you?" he inquires, cocking an eyebrow. I nod sheepishly in reply.

"Is it really that obvious?" I ask, suddenly feeling self-conscious. The boy shakes his head before continuing on

"No, I just know that I would remember your face if I had seen it before." The boy states sending a wink in my direction, causing my face to blush a furious shade of red.

"Here, you can sit with me." The boy offers, picking up my trunk in the process and starting towards a compartment. Realising I have no choice in the matter I follow closely behind the boy, receiving cat calls along the way.

"Oh I'm Hugo by the way." The boy comments confidently. Reaching the compartment Hugo slides the door open prompting me to walk over to one of the plump-looking cushioned benches and plopping down tiresomely. Hugo takes a seat opposite me and smiles softly.

"So, how come you're only starting at Hogwarts now?" he questions causing me to shift slightly but not enough to be noticed.

"You see, I originally attended Beauxbatons, upon my Mother's requests, as that was where she received her education. However now I live with my Father, I am being sent to Hogwarts." I explained, earning a smile.

"So is your Father, a Wizard too then?" Hugo asks to which I simply nod. "Have any of your family attended Hogwarts before you then?" The curious boy continues on.

"Yes, everyone on my Father's side has. And In case you are wondering what my name is, I am called Megan Warrington" I reply back a tinge of annoyance becoming apparent in my voice, at this Hugo's eyes light up

"You mean you're a pureblood too." He replied causing a smile to creep its way onto my face.

"Yes, what family are you a part of then?" I ask curiosity lacing my voice

"Well my Mother is part of the Black family and my Father the Potter Family so I am a part of both, my cousins, Walburga and Cygnus, are both in Slytherin, speaking of which, which house do you think you will be sorted in to? " Hugo asks excitedly, I simply shrug my shoulders but am interrupted by the train screeching to a slow halt.

"We're here" Hugo states handing me my luggage.

"Really? I couldn't tell" I remark sarcastically, following Hugo out of the compartment and into the somewhat crowded corridor, he gives me a small nudge in the direction of the door which I head towards, I step off the train, my hand quickly being tugged by Hugo, I look over at him and he leads me over to a large wooden carriage, being pulled by a creature I have never seen before, I slowly walk over to it and hold my hand out stroking it. I abruptly stop as I feel eyes burning into my back, I swiftly turned to be met with, dark cold hollow eyes, staring at me from a distance. I looked at the tall boy they belonged to, he was gorgeous with wavy hair that lazily flopped over one side of his forehead, dark emotionless green eyes, high angular cheek bones and a set jaw along with plump lips. The boy's stare only intensifies, resulting me squirming under it.

"Are you coming Megan?" Hugo calls from inside the carriage, I quickly climb inside and feel relief flood through my veins at the thought of escaping the tall boy's scrutinizing gaze.

"I reckon you'll be in either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. Especially after that amazing entrance on the train" Hugo remarks

"Which one are you?" I inquire fiddling with the hem of my skirt.

"I am in Gryffindor" Hugo replies proudly, shoving his tie into my line of vision

We soon slow to a stop stepping out of the carriage I feel Hugo standing behind me as I marvel at the breath taking view in front of me.

The castle stands tall and proud on jagged rock faces that emerge from the clear waters of the lake surrounding it, the moon dances elegantly on the surface of the waters, and the old stones of the castle shimmer causing the illusion of it glowing. The light coming from within the illustrious castle creates shadows that add to the overall allure and mystery of the beautiful castle. The ancient building, giving off a sense of community, of home, of belonging.

I snap out of my trance like state and follow Hugo along with hundreds of other students into the majestic castle. We soon reach the entrance hall. My senses quickly becoming overwhelmed by the stunning scene that is enticing me in. Long oak tables stretch the length of the immense room, each one loaded with mounds of delicious banquet luxuries. Millions of candles light the enchanted sky swaying to a rhythm, collectively glowing like a swarm of fireflies. The smoky smell of burning candles is soon invaded by the sweet aroma of the heavenly feast.

Everyone walks towards their separate tables, Hugo pulling me by my forearm over to the one lined with scarlet and gold. Shortly after, the apprehensive first years hesitantly walk through the great hall as an old looking Professor with silver hair and twinkling blue eyes places a stool along with an old dirty, tattered hat down. He begins talking but I tune him out as my nerves seep through my cool exterior and my legs start shaking

"Thank you Albus. Now that all of the first years have been sorted we have a special person to be sorted" A man I recognise to be the headmaster, Professor Dippet starts "A new fifth year transfer Miss Megan Warrington. Come on up dear" the headmaster finishes much to my chagrin, I feel a thousand pair of eyes on me as I slowly rise out of my seat, the only sound audible being the soft beat of my footsteps. I reach the stool and take a deep breath lowering myself on to it, I feel the hat touch my head and am startled by a voice echoing inside my mind.

" interesting....very interesting...I See intelligence, yes, a vast amount of it...very courageous, strong willed...ah, now what is this we have here, hmm, peculiar very peculiar indeed." I fidget slightly in the chair as the hat mutters in my mind.

"Difficult. You will prove yourself in your house no doubt about that, it is decided then"

I hold my breath and take in the serene silence as the school waits on my fate. The peaceful silence is disturbed by a booming voice

"SLYTHERIN!"
