The city was loud. The little girl was quiet.

I left the building, closing the apartment door. Like every morning. My mom left to work. My sister was getting ready for school, having 10 minutes earlier then me. My dad picks me up right outside the lobby and I have to take my dog with me. My brother either goes to work, or sleeps all day at his house.
I made it to school. Had a 'normal' day. I left school, and reached to Dora's Stylin' Salon. It was the side of town you won't be finding Katy Perry's type of money thrown around. Many buildings following me as I arrived. This place was like my second home, kinda strange to call my work home.
"Ayee!!!"
Everyone rose there voices higher as it already was, greeting me with warm smiles and heys.
"How's it going JJ!"
My work friend Gwen, older then me by 1 year or 2, then gestured to the filled couch with our regular customers.
I motioned my hand to the first person, who was a little girl. Her mom knew us and was a gossiper, much like everyone who came.
"Alright Monique, come sit over here."

After much talking I finished my time and was ready to take my 2nd shift. I took care of the register.
The bell of the door rang, and I had my head down checking off some paper work. I fianlly looked up when the sound of a box was placed on the desk. The mail arrived and boxes were given to me. They probably were hair products but I saw the name for one out of the 3 packages. It had my name on it. It was strange seeing my name. Justice Journey.
Since my family moved to an apartment, the salon let me put my temporary address for here.

Today I had to close up, so turned off all the lights, turned on the cheap alarm: a chair. I placed a chair in the door way. The outside had a sliding gate so it was a better safety. I locked up the place and quickly headed home since it was dark out. I looked my phone and realized it just turned 10:42 p.m.
"Damn." I softly said under my breath. I didn't like much of foul language. Even saying that was bad for me. So I breathed in and out. As I was breathing out I faced the dark night sky.
"Wow, I've never seen this many stars in Chicago."
I felt my eyes twinkle. I ran back home as fast as I could, determined to go back to my place before the stars went to sleep.

I reached the lobby, to the elevator. I wasn't suppose to go through this special door but I was already climbing the stairs making my way to the roof. I didn't know why I wanted to see them badly.
Letting out a many sighs of tiriness. I found a spot near the faint filter. I sat on my back and gazed at the stars.
"What beautiful lights in the sky."
