“OK. Let’s go.” I said while heading to my office to put my I.D away then turning around to head for the elevators. Pam once again grabbed my arm.
“What are you doing you can’t go on the elevator. That is so dangerous.”
“What are you talking about I can’t take the stairs I’m in 5 inch heels and so are you.”
“Fine if you want to die than go ahead.” She gave me that blank face again
“Fine.” I said unwillingly and followed her to the emergency exit staircase.
“Reverse psychology it always work even on the smartest minds.” Pam said almost half way down the first flight I rolled my eyes Pam is so cocky sometimes.
“So. How’s life?” I asked to stop the awkward silence.
“shh.”
“What im trying to pass time we have 42 more flights of stairs left and your not making it any easier.“
Pam turned around to look at me “I mean shh do you hear that.”
“Hear what.”
“That” she rushed back up to flights of stairs and opened the door. She look a little relieved when she saw that it was just the mail room.
“Do you forget that floor 44 is the mail room and even if there was something happening why would you rush sight where the sound is coming from you're suppose to run the other way.” I said with a little giggle.
“Hey, you just saw what happened, I don’t take chances.” Pam said while pointing her finger in my face. While she was lecturing me I lost focus because I heard a distance noise that brought shivers to my body.........again. I moved my hands in a motion to indicate stop talking.
“You do realize that I’m your boss right?” I said just trying to point out the fact because everyone knows that I’m not going to fire Pam she’s the best lawyer we have. In response Pam just rolled her eyes and said yes, as usual. I opened my mouth to say something but the sound knocked me off my train of thought. This time it wasn’t just me stopping to listen, everyone else in the room did. It came into sight, it was another plane but this time it was right infront of our building.
“Everyone get down!” Pam said. With no hesitation everyone dropped down to the floor and curled into a ball. The sound of the crash was load enough to severly damge your ear drum. Right after something fell onto my head, hard and everything went black.
When I finally came to no one was in the room, well except Pam who seemed unconcious. I started to choke because the smell of smoke was so strong. That’s when I realized that the room was on fire.
“Pam wake up” I said shaking her with all my might. Her body was motionless. I looked around to see the fish tank, a very dirty fish tank.
“Oh well it’ll work” I said to myself as I ran over trying to stay low. I grabbed the fish tank and ran back over to Pam and dumped all the water on her face. She still didn’t move. Since I didn’t have health in 8th grade I didn’t know CPR.
“Pam wake up, come on I need you to wake up.” I said trying to hold back my tears still shaking her. The plastering on the ceiling fell 2 feet away from her feet. I walked away from Pam thinking that we have to get out of here. I tried to open the door.
“Locked” I said. Then I walked around to another door locked. I did the same thing to every door but each one was either locked or jammed. There were no windows except for the outside.
“Crap” I said to my self with a frustrated tone. There’s only one thing left to do.
“Help! Help! Somebody please! Help!” I said gasping for air. “Help! Help! Somebody! Anybody! Help!”
