Saving Him (#Wattys2016)

"Exciting" Day

Today's the day. What day you might ask? Well it's Saturday and the weather is amazing! Anyway that wasn't the point. My point was today is the day I get to go to the beach!!! I mean sure I could go anytime of the week, considering that I live right next to the beach and all, but my best friend Alison or Allie is coming over here to California from Ohio!

Ever since we split from college, me going to Stanford University and Allie going to Ohio State University, it's been hard to call each other or face time at night. Now that summer break is out, Allie decided to come over here, to Florida, to catch up on all the things we missed out on. Today is pretty exciting for me!

"I like to move it move it, I like to move it", and that would be my phone, catchy tune right? The picture of Ali popped up when I picked up the phone, and immediately I answered.

"HEY ALLIE!! WHERE ARE YOU?!! OMG I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU! IT'S BEEN FOREVER....." I didn't get to continue because I was cut off.

"Woah Tori! Take a chill pill! I'm at the airport right now and I'm excited to see you too! Now that that is over, can you please hurry to the airport!! It's so hot in here.. I don't know how you can live in such a hot state!" she was one of those people that liked cold states. We were kinda different but we made our friendship work.

"Ok ok, I'll be there in about 15 minutes depending on the traffic" during the summer time, the traffic is well.. let's just say it's not fun.

"Ok but please hurry! I don't know how much longer I can survive in this heat, I actually feel like Olaf.. well except I know that I'm going to die in the heat!" she was also always the pessimist. With a quick bye, I hung up the phone and grabbed my keys and headed out. As I walked out, I saw Mrs. Wells hurrying inside to her house. She was dressed with in overalls, a sun hat and of course her famous shovel. Mrs. Wells was one of those people that kept on gardening even when their garden looked amazing.

"Hey Mrs. Wells! How are you?

   "Oh hello Tori I didn't see you there! I'm doing fine thank you sweetie! Just doing some more gardening!" yup I could definitely see that.

" Well I'm heading out to pick up Allie from the airport"

"Oh Allie! I can't wait to see her!" Mrs. Wells knew about Allie ever since I moved into the apartment next to her. She always invited me for tea and so she would always ask me some random questions, but that's what I liked about her. She wasn't some old cranky old lady living next door. With a quick wave, I hopped into my car and headed towards the airport.

Can life get any worse? Wait I probably shouldn't say that. It might make things worse, I mean that always happens in movies right? I already got honked at for driving "too slow" and I almost ran over a squirrel.

Anyway the traffic right now is horrible!! I have never seen traffic this bad before! Allie is so going to kill me for being late. Before I left, I checked the time and it had read 5:45 and I promised Allie I'd be there in 15 minutes.

Well now it's 6:10 and I'm still pretty far from the airport. I checked to see if there were any missed calls from Allie, but surprisingly there weren't any.

Finally after 10 minutes the traffic started to move again. Please let there be no more traffic, I prayed. But of course God wanted to punish me because being the blind person I am, I didn't see a boy walking on the road.

Quick with my reflexes, I pressed the break as hard as I could because I didn't want to kill the guy even though he was asking for it. My car barely touched the stupid idiot before it came to a complete stop. OK Tori, you need to calm down and relax. You didn't kill him, that's a very good thing, very.

I looked up to see what happened to the guy but only to find him gone. Where did he go? I turned to get out of the car to see if he fainted or something but as I was opening the door, I came face to face with the idiot. I was so glad there was glass between me and him because his face looked very scary.

His eyeballs looked like they were going to come out if his sockets and if he were animated, there would be smoke coming out of his ears. Even though his face was quiet scary, I had to ask if he was okay.

It was awkward because as the window was going down, it was making this annoying sound and the tension in the air didn't make it any better.

"Umm are you okay? I'm so sorry I didn't see you, I swear!" I said finally after the window was down. He just looked at me and then what felt like ages, he just smiled and replied,

"Yes I'm perfectly fine, thanks for asking" he said that way too calmly for a person who almost died. I felt really bad for the dude.

"But whoever gave you a license to drive was either blind or you made a fake drivers ID" again he said in a calm voice. Wait did he just say what I thought he said?!

"Hold up! First of all, I earned my drivers ID and second you were the one that crossed when you weren't supposed to!" I said, all the pity gone now. Was he for real? He had some nerve saying that. He just rolled his eyes and muttered a whatever and started to walk away.

"Um excuse me!? I think an apology is needed here" I was not letting this go until he said sorry. He turned around and he had one of those weird faces where you could tell he was trying to control his anger. Good now he knows how I feel.

"I'm sorry for accusing you princess" he smiled after saying that. Pfft I'm not his a princess.

"I'm not your princess" I said voicing my thought.

"I never said you were" now he had that stupid smug smile because he thought he got me trapped. Well I got a smart ass answer right back at him.

"You're right because I'm way out of your league" HA! How about that for an answer. Right after I said that, he smug was replaced with a scowl. The next thing I knew I was pinned against the car and his body was pressed against mine. I have never been this close to the opposite gender before, so this was quiet uncomfortable.

"Listen here princess, you think you so smart don't ya? Well if you knew me, you would know to stay away from me because I can easily ruin your life. You got that?" okay maybe I went too far. Too shocked to say anything, I just  nodded my head.

With a satisfied smile, he backed away and disappeared into the crowd. What an arrogant piece of poop, I thought to myself. I got in the car and rolled up the window. I felt like I was forgetting something? What was it? Then it hit me.

ALLIE!
