Margaret Smith:

Once upon a time there lived a man named Nicolas Smith and his wife, Emily Smith. Emily recently found a tiny little baby girl on her doorstep and took her in. They named their baby Margaret. The happy family went to the Evil Queen's kingdom to buy some foods from the market.

On their way back a strange man appeared from an alley and said "I'd be aware of that child ma'am."

This man was called Rumpelstiltskin. He had skin that looked almost like scales on a crocodile. The cloak he wore was torn at the tip and was brown and old. He was known for his trickery and his deals that he struck with anyone he wanted something from. In this case, he wanted to devise a deal with Nicolas and Emily.

"Excuse me?" Nicolas replied.

"I'm speaking of your child. She will not be the child you've always wanted. She will become..." He lifted his left hand midway in the air and his right hand pointing to it. He laughed a sinister laugh, "a villain."

Emily looked at her baby and back to Rumplestiltskin, "Evil isn't born. It's made. I'm sorry you must be mistaking our Margaret for someone else."

"There is no mistake ma'am. Especially if she's born of the evilest of evil," Rumpelstiltskin said.

"What are you talking about?" Emily asked in a scared tone.

"You found her on your doorstep, correct?" Emily nodded at Rumple's question. "That little child you hold so dear is actually the Evil Queen's."

At that, Nicolas and Emily were shocked. The child they were holding was the creation of the most ruthless of all queens, but it was true. Recently, the queen locked herself in her castle for nine months. No one heard from her until the nine months was complete. Regina must've given her child away and went back to her plans on taking Snow White's happiness.

"Now, there is only one way to keep her from becoming a villain," Rumpelstiltskin replied.

"How?" Nicolas asked desperately.

Rumpelstiltskin smiled and said, "Magic, but I must warn you, all magic comes with a price."

Nicolas looked at Emily and she nodded in approval. Rumpelstiltskin took out his wand and stepped towards Emily and her baby. He then turned the child's roots of her brown hair into beautiful blond roots. Her personality also changed. She was more likely to obey, she was kinder and she was compassionate.

"There. Your child is good. If she is not good, if she steals, takes advantage of anyone or if she if she turns corrupt, her hair will turn from golden hair, to brown hair. Also, she will indeed become a villain," He says. Then he smiled a curious smile. "Now, for my payment."

"What do you want?" Nicolas asked.

"When a woman with a name that reminds you of the winter comes to your house and asks for help, you must help her," Rumpelstiltskin demanded.

"Alright," Nicolas said.

Just then, Rumpelstiltskin disappeared into the alley and the Smiths headed home.

9 Years later:

Long ago, there lived a poor little family. This family consisted of two people, Emily Smith and her daughter, Margaret Smith. Emily's husband, Nicolas, was killed by the queen because he helped Snow White escape from the her. The Smiths lived on the outskirts of the Queen's kingdom because Emily did not want little Margaret to be raised under the Queen's rule. She had a job in the kingdom though. Emily was a tailor and owned a shop in the kingdom. She made just enough money to get by, but she got very sick.

What Emily had was incurable and she did not want to be cured by magic, for she knew that all magic comes with a price.

Margaret did whatever she could to keep her mother alive. She stole many things for her mother's comfort. She stole blankets, food, wood for the fire, water from the royal well, that had the best water in the kingdom and she stole medicine, but nothing seemed to work. During the time she was stealing, her hair was slowly turning brown and her mother started to notice.

Before Emily died she asked Margaret to keep a promise. She wanted Margaret to be good, do not steal, do not take advantage of people and do not hurt anyone. Margaret promised because she knew it was her mother's last wish and if she did her hair would change from the beautiful golden curly hair to brown and dull hair. When Emily died, Margaret said goodbye to her mother one last time and she ran into the woods.
