Paul

I can't believe Jake and Ren agreed to live with Sam. After all Sam and Billy's begging, they finally agreed to it. This ought to be fun, I think sarcastically. Jake has always hated me since the Bella and baby killing thing. He needs to grow up. That was like twenty years ago. I am sorry for what I did now, but at the time I was just trying to protect the pack and the people of LaPush and Forks.

I wonder what their daughter is like. I've heard from Seth she's smokin' hot. He has such a crush on her. That little punk, he's something else.

"Paul, patrol is in five minutes. Are you ready," asks Sam. I don't feel like patrolling, but the alpha's orders are to be obeyed.

"Yeah, I guess." I run out of Sam and Emily's house and wait for the exhilarating shift. I hear Sam's signal. I feel the familiar pull of my muscles. My bones crack and break to form into the body of my wolf. I am used to the pain, so I hold in my whimper. I take off to the pack's meeting place in the woods. I run. I watch the trees blur past me and feel the breeze blow through my silver grey fur. I dodge sharp rocks and huge trees. Soon, I pass by the treaty line and the river. I am here. It is only me and the black alpha wolf, Sam. As always, we are the first ones here. We wait in silence for the rest of the pack. A few minutes later, Jared shows up. He runs over to me and playfully bites my neck. I growl in return to scare him. He sends me a thought.

"Hey, I'm just playing dude "

"I know." We laugh. Quil and Embry arrive playing and soon after them is Leah and Seth. Jake is next. Carla is last to be present and receives a scolding from Sam.

"Carla, why are you late this time," Sam questions her.

"Sorry Dad, I was helping Mom clean the house for the arrival. I guess mom hasn't gotten used to the fact that I'm a werewolf now and that I have other responsibilities than staying home and cooking and cleaning all day."

Sam sighs, "All right, I'll let you off the hook one more time since this time your excuse was a reasonable one. Don't let it happen again, you hear me?"

Carla nods frantically. "Yes sir."

He turns to me and gives me the okay to start patrol now. I take the northwestern patrollers, Leah, Jared, and Quil to our starting points. We have to search the entire perimeter today because of Ana's arrival. Yep, Ana's. Jacob wanted to make sure his daughter was safe from any harm. Though I'm supposed to be focused on patrol, I can't help but think of the mysterious girl everyone always talks about.

Suddenly, I here a twig snap from the left of me. I hunker down, the rest follow suit. My ears perk up to a pointy tip. I tilt my head and listen for anymore noises. When it finally seems whatever was there has left, an overly grown chipmunk jumps from behind a bush. Silence follows. My flexed muscles relax. I stretch out of my hunkered position and continue searching the rest of the property.

I stare at the wide on-going ocean across the overhang of the cliff. What I would give right now to go cliff diving.....

After what seems like days, we're finished with patrol and are heading back to Sam's place.

I run back, anxiously awaiting Ana's arrival. I know if Jacob senses my excitement he'll have my throat, so I try to calm myself down. I reach the big oak tree that has my change of clothes behind it. I quickly slip into my underwear and shorts. I walk to the house, hoping Emily has made a snack, possibly chicken.
