“Logan, no, don’t!” I shrieked, holding my hands up to block my face as Logan turned the gun towards me.

“I’m sorry, Abriella. I have to do this. It’s for your own good,” he smirked menacingly.

I turned to run away from him but didn’t get behind cover fast enough. The cold water soaked through my shirt, chilling my skin and causing goosebumps to erupt on my arms. This made me slow to a stop as I gave up and turned to face him.

“Hiii-yah!” Riley screamed and a water balloon  hit Logan square in the back of the head. He staggered forward and turned the gun on her.

“Hiyah?” I questioned, tipping my head. “Was that some sort of secret ninja karate move?”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Riley scoffed at me. “Ninjas wouldn’t make noise, that’s the whole point of being a ninja. Duh.”

“Yeah, duh, Aby,” Logan teased me.

“You’re supposed to be on my side,” I pouted. “I’m going to go change now and throw these clothes in the wash because you’ve gone and gotten them wet.”

I went and changed into a nice summery dress and threw the clothes I had been wearing into the washer. It was an abnormally hot day for being only May, but Riley, Logan, and I planned to enjoy every last minute of it, thus the waterfight.

A wet shirt hit me in the face. I grabbed it and threw it in the washer with a glare at Riley. “Seriously?” I asked her. “You can’t just say, ‘Hey, Aby, throw this in there too for me?’ and hand it to me, or even toss it to me like a normal person?”

“Nope,” she replied, sticking her tongue out at me. She’d changed into a pair of high-waisted shorts and a crop top, something that might look bad on someone else, but accentuated her slim figure.

“Brat,” I lightly shoved her out of the way. “Move.”

“So you can go back to Looogaan,” she teased me. “Your precious, precious Logan?”

“Maaaybe.”

“Awwwh, Logan and Aby, sittin’ in a tree – ” she started in a sing-song tone.

“Ri, stop!” I chucked a sock at her from off my bed. “I really love him,” I said slightly quieter.

“Yeah?” She sat down next to me. “Does he make your heart kinda flutter? Your eyes kinda blur?”

“Riley!” I scolded her. “I’m trying to be serious! Can’t we ever have like… a serious moment?”

“Okay, okay. Let’s be serious. You love him?”

“I do…” my voice trailed off to a whisper.

“What?!” she leaned in closer. “Aby, are you sure? Just six months ago you weren’t yet over Niall!”
