"Phil, I think it's time-" you whisper to me as we lay in bed. I look into you beautiful eyes and smile, "Really?" I whisper in disbelief, you nods. I jump up and hug you, I burst into tears. you know how much I want to be a dad.

We go to the agency, I hold your hand as we wait. You kiss me on the cheek. A woman approaches us, asking us questions. She writes down our answers, she walks off. "You're going to be an amazing dad Phil," you whisper to me, I blush, "You too."  The woman comes back, telling us she's found a match. We can't hold our excitement. We thank her and she tells us in 4 months they'll be born. We walk back to the apartment, when we arrive we jump
up and down. I can't wait...

You're just a small bump unborn, in four months you're brought to life,
You might be left with my hair, but you'll have your father's eyes,
I'll hold your body in my hands, be as gentle as I can,
But for now you're scan of my unmade plans,
A small bump in four months you're brought to life
A small bump in four months you'll open your eyes...

I'll whisper quietly, I'll give you nothing but truth,
I'll hold you tightly, I'll give you nothing but truth,
If you're not inside me, I'll put my future in you...

You are my one and only.
You can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.
Oh, you are my one and only.
You can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.
And you'll be alright.

Oh, you're just a small bump unknown, you'll grow into your skin.
With a smile like his and dimples beneath your cheek.
Finger nails the size of a half grain of rice,
And eyelids closed to be soon opened wide
A small bump, in four months you'll open your eyes...

And I'll hold you tightly, I'll tell you nothing but truth,
And I'll hold you tightly, I'll give you nothing but truth,
If you're not inside me, I'll put my future in you...

You are my one and only.
You can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.
Oh, you are my one and only.
You can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.
And you'll be alright.

And you can lie with me,
With your tiny feet
When you're half asleep,
I'll leave you be.
Right in front of me
For a couple weeks
So I can keep you safe.

'Cause you are my one and only.
You can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.
You are my one and only.
You can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.
And you'll be alright.

We get a call from the agency, they say it's an emergency. We run there, hand in hand. We get taken to a room, they tell us to take a seat. You hold my hand, squeezing it tighter. "Mr and Mr Howell-Lester. I'm sorry, your donor had a miscarriage. Your baby girl was a still-born."  You break down and burst out crying, I grab you and hug you. I cry with you. "I'm sorry Phil," you whisper in my ear, "It's not your fault," I whisper back. The woman leaves the room, leaving us alone. We cry together, you kiss my forehead. "It was a girl Dan," I whisper, you smile, "What was her name Phil?" you ask. "Winnie," I smile, wiping your eyes with my sleeve. "I love you," you whisper, "I love you too."

'Cause you were just a small bump unborn for four months then torn from life.
Maybe you were needed up there but we're still unaware as why...
